18.1.12.7 Radio Net
The Radio Net functionality in the preferences panel allows settings to use in a radio net file or in-an
application mission data set for radio transmission.
This feature is in relation with the use of an FO Link. If you decide to conduct a mission using an FO
Link, then it is required to make sure Automatic is selected.
Having selected Automatic, the radio net in VBS3Fires will disregard the radionets.dat file and only
read the fields of “Name” and “Callsign” for each unit and Battery specified in VBS3. The call-sign for
the FOs will be directly taken from the unit that is linked to the FO Link.
It is critical to note that, if you decides to conduct a mission using an FO Link, the mission
would load and make all FOs that are only linked to the FO Link to be in use for fire missions. A
mission can either be conducted with FOs linked to the FO Link or individual FOs. A mission would
not make both types of FOs active for a mission. All changes made here requires the mission to be
restarted to apply changes made to take effect.. However, if an FO object exists in the mission with
linked FOs and the setting is set to ‘Manual’, the FO object would be inactive and the FOs would still
function normally responding to the call signs placed in the radionet.dat file.
