5.2 Training configurations
VBS3Fires facilitates a trainee to directly enter a call-for-fire command. This allows:
Trainees and instructors to be geographically separated
Effective capture of work-flow between trainee and instructor
VBS3Fires to automatically respond to a call-for-fire using its inbuilt Artificial Intelligence
engine, therefore instructor intervention is not crucial.
5.2.1 Instructor - Trainee Configuration
This configuration uses several (at least two) licenses of VBS3Fires and requires one license to run in
Instructor mode and another at least one license to run in Trainee mode. It allows each trainee to
enter a CFF into their own Trainee terminal which is then transmitted over the VBS3Fires simulated
radio system to the Instructor terminal.
This configuration can support multiple trainees. It facilitates multiple trainees to train within the
same scenario, and for one instructor to administer multiple trainees.

The Instructor terminal can be set to either respond manually to CFF from a trainee or to respond
automatically using the VBS3Fires Gunnery AI technology.
Instructor manually respond to CFF
This approach has the advantage that an instructor can inject complex errors into the response
process for the CFF, creating a more complex training scenario.
