GridVis® software - device confi guration
Basic settings
1. Right-click to open the context menu for
your device:
- In the "Projects" > "Your project“ >
"Devices" > "By device type" >
"UMG 96-PA" > "Device x" window.
2. Click the "Confi guration" menu item in the
context menu.
3. The "Confi guration [Device x]"
window is displayed in the right
half of the work area.
4. Enter your individual device name in the
„Name“ input fi eld in the "Identity" menu in
the "Confi guration" window.
5. Enter the voltage and current ratios in the
input fi elds in the "Transformer" menu in
the "Confi guration" window.
6. Select the nominal frequency under
the "Nominal values" menu in the
"Confi guration" window, in accordance
with the existing grid conditions.

NOTE!
To avoid data loss, save your changes
to the device confi guration by pressing
"Transfer" or "Transfer to"!

This quick-start guide for our GridVis
®
software
is an addendum to the user manual and to the
installation instructions for the UMG 96-PA.
The following steps describe the most common
connections for communication between PC and
device.
Firstly, please read and understand the informa-
tion documents that accompanied the product
and in particular the safety-relevant information
contained within.

Establish the connection to the PC
The most common connections for communication
between the PC and the device:

administrator about the correct Ethernet
network settings for your device.

UMG 96-PA - PC connection via UMG 604 as gateway
The PC connection of the UMG 96-PA via the
UMG 604 as gateway is the most common
connection between PC and device:
1. Confi gure your UMG 604 via Ethernet cable
on your PC in the network with DHCP server
as “DHCP Client” (IP address assigned
automatically), without DHCP server as “Fixed
IP address” (see user manual and installation
instructions for the UMG 604).
2. Connect your UMG 96-PA with the UMG
604 via the RS485 interface (see installation
instructions).
GridVis® software
Install the GridVis® software on your computer and
proceed as follows:
1. Open the GridVis® software on your PC.
2. In the menu bar, select "File" >
"New project". If the project already exists,
open it by selecting "File" >
"Open project“.
3. The "New project" window is displayed.
4. In step 1, "Select project", click "Continue".
5. In step 2, "Project path", select the:
- “Project name”.
- “Project path”.
Insert UMG 604 in the project:
1. In the menu bar, select "File" >
"New fi le".
2. The "New fi le" window is displayed.
3. In step 1, "Select fi le type", select the "File
type" (UMG 604) in the "DIN Rail" category.
4. Click "Next".
5. The "Confi gure connection"
step is displayed in the window.
6. Click "Finish".
7. Your project is displayed on the left in the
"Projects" window in the work area.
6. In the "Connection type" selection list, select
"TCP/IP" and enter the IP address for your
device in the "Host" fi eld.
The IP address of your UMG 604 is determined
via the parameter addresses 300 to 303 in
programming mode (see user manual and
installation instructions for the UMG 604).
7. Click "Connection test”.
8. If the connection test is successful, the "Display
device information" window appears with the
serial number, hardware version and fi rmware
version.
9. Click "OK".
10. Complete the "Insert new device into the
project" step by clicking "Finish".
Insert UMG 96-PA in the project:
1. Click in the project window on the plus
symbol in front of the "Devices" directory.
2. Click on the plus symbol in front of the
"By device type" subdirectory in the
"Devices" directory.
3. The UMG 604 that was installed previously
is displayed.
4. Right-click with the mouse on the
"By device type" subdirectory.
5. Select the "New" menu item in the context
menu.
6. Click on the "Other" menu item in the sub-
menu.
8. In the "UMG 96 Series" category,
select the "File type” UMG 96-PA.
7. The "New fi le" window is displayed.
9. Click "Next".
10. The "Confi gure connection"
step is displayed in the window.
11. Important settings in "Confi gure connection":
- In the selection list, select the "Ethernet
gateway (e.g. for devices on the RS485)"
connection type.
- Enter the IP address of your UMG 604
in the "Address" input fi eld (read out
parameter addresses 300 to 303 on the
device).
- In the "Device address" selection fi eld,
select the device address for your UMG
96-PA (see user manual and installation
instructions for the UMG 96-PA).
12. Click "Connection test".
13. If the connection test is successful, the
"Display device information" window appears
with the serial number, hardware version and
fi rmware version.
14. Click "OK".
15. Complete the "Insert new device into the
project" step by clicking "Finish".

NOTE!
The GridVis
®
device confi guration and
recording settings describe the basic
settings.
The program windows shown may dif-
fer from the actual display depending
on the device.
Additional functions, information and
device settings specially for your
device can be found in the GridVis®
software's online help.
In "Recording confi guration", you can check and
confi gure which recordings the measurement
device should save if required.
A record holds a measured value or the mean
value of the measured value.

Basis-Einstellungen
1. Öffnen Sie mit einem rechten Mausklick
das Kontextmenü Ihres Geräts:
- Im Fenster „Projekte“ > „Ihr Projekt“ >
„Geräte“ > „Nach Gerätetyp“ >
„UMG 96-PA“ > „Gerät x“.
2. Klicken Sie im Kontextmenü auf den
Menüeintrag „Konfi guration“.
3. Das Fenster „Konfi guration [Gerät x]“
erscheint in der rechten Hälfte des
Arbeitsbereichs.
4. Vergeben Sie im Fenster „Konfi guration“
unter Menü „Identität“ im Eingabefeld
„Name“ Ihren individuellen Gerätenamen.
5. Geben Sie im Fenster „Konfi guration“
unter Menü „Wandler“ in den Eingabe-
feldern die Spannungs- und Stromver-
hältnisse ein.
6. Wählen Sie im Fenster „Konfi guration“
unter Menü „Nominalwerte“ die Nenn-
frequenz entsprechend der vorhandenen
Netzverhältnisse.

HINWEIS!
Um Datenverlust zu vermeiden,
speichern Sie Ihre Änderungen der
Geräte-Konfi guration über die Schalt-
fl ächen „Übertragen“ oder „Übertragen
an“!

®
ist eine Beilage zum Benutzerhandbuch und
zur Installationsanleitung des UMG 96-PA. Die
folgenden Schritte beschreiben die gängigsten
Verbindungen zur Kommunikation zwischen PC
und Gerät.
Bitte lesen und verstehen Sie zunächst die
produktbegleitenden Informationsprodukte und
insbesondere die darin enthaltenen sicherheits-
relevanten Informationen.

UMG 96-PA - PC-Verbindung über UMG 604 als Gateway
Die PC-Verbindung des UMG 96-PA über das
UMG 604 als Gateway ist die häufi gste Verbindung
zur Kommunikation zwischen PC und Gerät:
1. Konfi gurieren Sie Ihr UMG 604 über Ethernet-
Kabel an Ihrem PC im Netzwerk mit DHCP-Ser-
ver als „DHCP Client“ (automatisch vergebene
IP-Adresse), ohne DHCP-Server als „Feste
IP-Adresse“ (siehe Benutzerhandbuch und
Installationsanleitung zum UMG 604).
2. Verbinden Sie Ihr UMG 96-PA über die RS485-
Schnittstelle mit dem UMG 604 (siehe Installati-
onsanleitung).
Software GridVis®
Installieren Sie die Software GridVis® auf Ihrem
Computer und fahren Sie folgendermaßen fort:
1. Öffnen Sie die Software GridVis® auf Ihrem PC.
2. Wählen Sie in der Menüleiste „Datei“ >
„Neues Projekt“. Für vorhandene Projekte wäh-
len Sie Ihr Projekt unter „Datei“ >
„Projekt öffnen“.
3. Das Fenster „Neues Projekt“ erscheint.
4. Klicken Sie unter Schritt 1 „Projekt wählen“ die
Schaltfl äche „Weiter“.
5. Wählen Sie unter Schritt 2 „Projektpfad“ den:
- „Projektname“.
- „Projektpfad“.
UMG 604 in das Projekt einfügen:
1. Wählen Sie in der Menüleiste „Datei“ >
„Neue Datei“.
2. Das Fenster „Neue Datei“ erscheint.
3. Wählen Sie unter Schritt 1 „Dateityp wählen“
in der Kategorie „DIN Rail“ den „Dateitypen“
aus (UMG 604).
4. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „Weiter“.
5. Es erscheint im Fenster der Schritt
„Verbindung konfi gurieren“.
6. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „Fertig“.
7. Im Arbeitsbereich erscheint Ihr Projekt links
im Fenster „Projekte“.
6. Wählen Sie in der Auswahlliste „Verbindungstyp“
> „TCP/IP“ und geben im Feld „Host“ die IP-
Adresse Ihres Geräts ein.
Die IP-Adresse Ihres UMG 604 bestimmen Sie
über die Parameter-Adressen 300 bis 303 im
Programmier-Modus (siehe Benutzerhandbuch
und Installationsanleitung zum UMG 604).
7. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „Verbindungs-
test“.
8. Bei positivem Verbindungstest erscheint das
Fenster „Geräteinformation anzeigen“ mit der
Seriennummer, Hardwarerevision und Firm-
wareversion.
9. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „OK“.
10. Beenden Sie den Schritt „Neues Gerät in das
Projekt einfügen“ mit Klick auf die Schaltfl äche
„Fertig“.
UMG 96-PA in das Projekt integrieren:
1. Klicken Sie im Projektefenster auf das
Plus-Symbol vor dem Verzeichnis „Geräte“.
2. Klicken Sie im Verzeichnis „Geräte“ auf das
Plus-Symbol vor dem Unterverzeichnis
„Nach Gerätetyp“.
3. Es erscheint das zuvor installierte UMG 604.
4. Klicken Sie mit der rechten Maustaste auf
das Unterverzeichnis „Nach Gerätetyp“.
5. Wählen Sie im Kontextmenü den Menüein-
trag „Neu“.
6. Klicken Sie im Untermenü auf den Menü-
eintrag „Anderes“.
8. Wählen Sie in der Kategorie „UMG 96
Series“ den „Dateitypen“ UMG 96-PA
7. Das Fenster „Neue Datei“ erscheint.
9. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „Weiter“.
10. Es erscheint im Fenster der Schritt
„Verbindung konfi gurieren“.
11. Wichtige Einstellungen unter „Verbindung
konfi gurieren“:
- In der Auswahlliste den Verbindungstyp
„Ethernet-Gateway (z.B. für Geräte an der
RS485)“ wählen.
- Im Eingabefeld „Adresse“ die IP-Adresse
Ihres UMG 604 eintragen (Parameter-Ad-
resse 300 bis 303 am Gerät auslesen).
- Im Auswahlfeld „Geräteadresse“ die Geräte-
adresse Ihres UMG 96-PA wählen (siehe
Benutzerhandbuch und Installationsanlei-
tung zum UMG 96-PA).
12. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche
„Verbindungstest“.
13. Bei positivem Verbindungstest erscheint das
Fenster „Geräteinformation anzeigen“
mit der Seriennummer, Hardwarerevision und
Firmwareversion.
14. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „OK“.
15. Beenden Sie den Schritt „Neues Gerät in das
Projekt einfügen“ mit Klick auf die Schaltfl ä-
che „Fertig“


Die GridVis
®
-Geräte-Konfi guration
und -Aufzeichnungs-Einstellungen
beschreiben Basis-Einstellungen.
Die abgebildeten Programmfenster
können, je nach Gerät, von der tat-
sächlichen Darstellung abweichen.
Weitere Funktionen, Informationen
und Geräte-Einstellungen, speziell für
Ihr Gerät, fi nden Sie in der Online-Hilfe
der Software GridVis®.
Überprüfen und konfi gurieren Sie gegebenenfalls
die unter Menü „Aufzeichnungskonfi guration“ auf-
gezeichneten Werte, die das Messgerät speichern
soll.
Eine Aufzeichnung enthält einen Messwert oder
den Mittelwert des Messwertes.

Die PC-Verbindung des UMG 96-PA über das

Adresse Ihres Geräts ein.
Die IP-Adresse Ihres UMG 604 bestimmen Sie
über die Parameter-Adressen 300 bis 303 im
Programmier-Modus (siehe Benutzerhandbuch
und Installationsanleitung zum UMG 604).
7. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „Verbindungs-
test“.
8. Bei positivem Verbindungstest erscheint das
Fenster „Geräteinformation anzeigen“ mit der
Seriennummer, Hardwarerevision und Firm-
wareversion.
9. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „OK“.
10. Beenden Sie den Schritt „Neues Gerät in das
Projekt einfügen“ mit Klick auf die Schaltfl äche
„Fertig“.
UMG 96-PA in das Projekt integrieren:
1. Klicken Sie im Projektefenster auf das
Plus-Symbol vor dem Verzeichnis „Geräte“.
2. Klicken Sie im Verzeichnis „Geräte“ auf das
Plus-Symbol vor dem Unterverzeichnis
„Nach Gerätetyp“.
3. Es erscheint das zuvor installierte UMG 604.
4. Klicken Sie mit der rechten Maustaste auf
das Unterverzeichnis „Nach Gerätetyp“.
5. Wählen Sie im Kontextmenü den Menüein-
trag „Neu“.
6. Klicken Sie im Untermenü auf den Menü-
eintrag „Anderes“.
8. Wählen Sie in der Kategorie „UMG 96
Series“ den „Dateitypen“ UMG 96-PA
7. Das Fenster „Neue Datei“ erscheint.
9. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „Weiter“.
10. Es erscheint im Fenster der Schritt
„Verbindung konfi gurieren“.
11. Wichtige Einstellungen unter „Verbindung
konfi gurieren“:
- In der Auswahlliste den Verbindungstyp
„Ethernet-Gateway (z.B. für Geräte an der
RS485)“ wählen.
- Im Eingabefeld „Adresse“ die IP-Adresse
Ihres UMG 604 eintragen (Parameter-Ad-
resse 300 bis 303 am Gerät auslesen).
- Im Auswahlfeld „Geräteadresse“ die Geräte-
adresse Ihres UMG 96-PA wählen (siehe
Benutzerhandbuch und Installationsanlei-
tung zum UMG 96-PA).
12. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche
„Verbindungstest“.
13. Bei positivem Verbindungstest erscheint das
Fenster „Geräteinformation anzeigen“
mit der Seriennummer, Hardwarerevision und
Firmwareversion.
14. Klicken Sie auf die Schaltfl äche „OK“.
15. Beenden Sie den Schritt „Neues Gerät in das
Projekt einfügen“ mit Klick auf die Schaltfl ä-
che „Fertig“


Überprüfen und konfi gurieren Sie gegebenenfalls
die unter Menü „Aufzeichnungskonfi guration“ auf-
gezeichneten Werte, die das Messgerät speichern
soll.
Eine Aufzeichnung enthält einen Messwert oder
den Mittelwert des Messwertes.

GridVis® software - device confi guration
Basic settings
1. Right-click to open the context menu for
your device:
- In the "Projects" > "Your project“ >
"Devices" > "By device type" >
"UMG 96-PA" > "Device x" window.
2. Click the "Confi guration" menu item in the
context menu.
3. The "Confi guration [Device x]"
window is displayed in the right
half of the work area.
4. Enter your individual device name in the
„Name“ input fi eld in the "Identity" menu in
the "Confi guration" window.
5. Enter the voltage and current ratios in the
input fi elds in the "Transformer" menu in
the "Confi guration" window.
6. Select the nominal frequency under
the "Nominal values" menu in the
"Confi guration" window, in accordance
with the existing grid conditions.

NOTE!
To avoid data loss, save your changes
to the device confi guration by pressing
"Transfer" or "Transfer to"!

This quick-start guide for our GridVis
®
software
is an addendum to the user manual and to the
installation instructions for the UMG 96-PA.
The following steps describe the most common
connections for communication between PC and
device.
Firstly, please read and understand the informa-
tion documents that accompanied the product
and in particular the safety-relevant information
contained within.

Establish the connection to the PC
The most common connections for communication
between the PC and the device:

UMG 96-PA - PC connection via UMG 604 as gateway
The PC connection of the UMG 96-PA via the
UMG 604 as gateway is the most common
connection between PC and device:
1. Confi gure your UMG 604 via Ethernet cable
on your PC in the network with DHCP server
as “DHCP Client” (IP address assigned
automatically), without DHCP server as “Fixed
IP address” (see user manual and installation
instructions for the UMG 604).
2. Connect your UMG 96-PA with the UMG
604 via the RS485 interface (see installation
instructions).
GridVis® software
Install the GridVis® software on your computer and
proceed as follows:
1. Open the GridVis® software on your PC.
2. In the menu bar, select "File" >
"New project". If the project already exists,
open it by selecting "File" >
"Open project“.
3. The "New project" window is displayed.
4. In step 1, "Select project", click "Continue".
5. In step 2, "Project path", select the:
- “Project name”.
- “Project path”.
Insert UMG 604 in the project:
1. In the menu bar, select "File" >
"New fi le".
2. The "New fi le" window is displayed.
3. In step 1, "Select fi le type", select the "File
type" (UMG 604) in the "DIN Rail" category.
4. Click "Next".
5. The "Confi gure connection"
step is displayed in the window.
6. Click "Finish".
7. Your project is displayed on the left in the
"Projects" window in the work area.
6. In the "Connection type" selection list, select
"TCP/IP" and enter the IP address for your
device in the "Host" fi eld.
The IP address of your UMG 604 is determined
via the parameter addresses 300 to 303 in
programming mode (see user manual and
installation instructions for the UMG 604).
7. Click "Connection test”.
8. If the connection test is successful, the "Display
device information" window appears with the
serial number, hardware version and fi rmware
version.
9. Click "OK".
10. Complete the "Insert new device into the
project" step by clicking "Finish".
Insert UMG 96-PA in the project:
1. Click in the project window on the plus
symbol in front of the "Devices" directory.
2. Click on the plus symbol in front of the
"By device type" subdirectory in the
"Devices" directory.
3. The UMG 604 that was installed previously
is displayed.
4. Right-click with the mouse on the
"By device type" subdirectory.
5. Select the "New" menu item in the context
menu.
6. Click on the "Other" menu item in the sub-
menu.
8. In the "UMG 96 Series" category,
select the "File type” UMG 96-PA.
7. The "New fi le" window is displayed.
9. Click "Next".
10. The "Confi gure connection"
step is displayed in the window.
11. Important settings in "Confi gure connection":
- In the selection list, select the "Ethernet
gateway (e.g. for devices on the RS485)"
connection type.
- Enter the IP address of your UMG 604
in the "Address" input fi eld (read out
parameter addresses 300 to 303 on the
device).
- In the "Device address" selection fi eld,
select the device address for your UMG
96-PA (see user manual and installation
instructions for the UMG 96-PA).
12. Click "Connection test".
13. If the connection test is successful, the
"Display device information" window appears
with the serial number, hardware version and
fi rmware version.
14. Click "OK".
15. Complete the "Insert new device into the
project" step by clicking "Finish".

NOTE!
The GridVis
®
device confi guration and
recording settings describe the basic
settings.
The program windows shown may dif-
fer from the actual display depending
on the device.
Additional functions, information and
device settings specially for your
device can be found in the GridVis®
software's online help.
In "Recording confi guration", you can check and
confi gure which recordings the measurement
device should save if required.
A record holds a measured value or the mean
value of the measured value.
