DESCRIPTION OF FUNCTIONS
While driving, mainly the start battery is charged. If it is full, the Second Battery Charger will automatically switch to the
second battery. Both batteries will now be charged by the generator. Both batteries remain in parallel connection up to an
overall voltage of 12.8 V. If the voltage decreases below 12.8 V, the Second Battery Charger switches off the additional
battery.
Additional loads should only be connected to the second battery. Safe starting is ensured, even after long periods of
inactivity (without charging). Ideal in combination with solar systems. The solar module and solar charge controller are
connected in parallel to the second battery.
Electronics are suited for all 12 V lead batteries. The charging current of a generator is approx. 25 % of the battery power,
e.g. 25 A in case of a 100 Ah battery. This current is then distributed to both batteries if the Second Battery Charger is used.
The electronic switching capacity is sufficient for batteries up to 500 Ah.
Recommended uses: For car and residence-use batteries in caravans, ships or mobile homes
INSTALLATION OF THE DEVICE
This Second Battery Charger enables you to easily retrofit your car with a second battery. The installation of the Second
Battery Charger is intended to charge the second battery without using your starter battery. You thus avoid starting problems
of your car.
A second battery should not simply be combined with the starter battery. If the batteries have reduced below a certain
voltage level, there is not enough current to start the car.
The device must be installed in such a way that it does not impair traffic safety or the constructive stability of the car.
The installation location must not be sensitive to heat and must be ventilated sufficiently as the device produces heat
when operating. (Observe a distance of 5 cm around the housing.) Should you have doubts concerning the selection of
the appropriate installation location, please contact your car workshop.
Before drilling the mounting holes, please ensure that no electrical cables, brake lines or the like are damaged by this.
Note: Never solder up cables in car engineering. Vibrations cause the soldering joints to break after a certain time. Please use
terminal screws or crimp connections.
