1. This lighter should only be used with a CGA 600 handle propane cylinder
tank or US 1" threaded valve.
2. Before installing the lighter on the gas cylinder,
make sure the gas flow is OFF by turning the
regulating control knob in a clockwise
direction until it’s securely hand-tightened.
DO NOT FORCE IT.
BURNING WEEDS
Burning weeds is a non-toxic and environmentally friendly way of removing
and destroying unwanted plants on pathways. Do not use this lighter for
flower beds or lawns (there’s a bigger Ivation® torch for that).
1. Ignite the lighter.
2. Hold the lighter at a minimum of 6 inches (15 cm) away from the plants
and gently move it around to heat up and dry out the weeds. Stronger or
woody weeds such as wild grass, roots, etc., will require more time with
the heat than common garden weeds. You may also need to repeat the
process after a few days.
WARNINGS:
• Only use this lighter in the open air, away from flammable substances
and materials.
• Always point the appliance downwards at a maximum of a 45° angle to
avoid flame flaring. If flaring occurs, move the propane container to an
upright position for a few seconds. Do not work on wet ground.
• If the ground is excessively dry, it may crack when using this lighter.
• Do not leave this lighter unattended at any time. The use of defective or
damaged appliances is dangerous.
• Do not clean the lighter immediately after turning the flame o. Put it in a
cool, dry location for about 30-45 minutes after use. Make sure it is
completely cooled, then clean it.
• Remove any debris or combustible materials that may have accumulated
on the lighter. The charcoal lighter must be kept free and clear from
combustible materials, gasoline, and other flammable vapors and liquids.
• Never attempt to store the charcoal lighter while it is hot.
• Do not store the charcoal lighter in locations where it might get damaged.
Make sure to protect it from foot trac, building materials, and contact
with hot surfaces during use and while in storage.
• Always store this unit and the gas container separately, and in a well-
ventilated area away from direct sunlight, heat, and other flammable
substances/materials.
• Make sure to check the seal on the torch before connecting it to the gas
container. If the seal is missing or cracked, do not use the torch. The seal is
not replaceable.
• Do not attempt to carry out any maintenance or repair work on this unit
yourself, at risk of serious injury, explosions, or death.
• Take this lighter to a specialized store for maintenance if problems arise.
• Always make sure to check the levels of propane by shaking the gas
container to see if you can hear liquid before using the torch.
3. Hold the lighter and gas cylinder upright. Turn the cylinder counter-
clockwise into the lighter valve connection until it’s securely hand-
tightened and attached to the lighter. Do not force it. Check the
connection to ensure there are no leaks.
4. Turn the gas adjustment knob counter-
clockwise until you hear a slight hissing
sound (this indicates gas is flowing). Press
the ignition button to produce a flame.
Make sure to always keep the lighter
pointed downward at a maximum of a
45° angle, and away from other people
and/or animals.
5. If needed, you may use the regulating control
knob to adjust the intensity and size of the
flame. Turning the knob clockwise will reduce the
flame, and counter-clockwise will increase it.
WARNING:
• Always check the seal inside the adapter before connecting a new gas
container to the lighter. Use soapy water to check for gas leaks. Never
use an open flame to check for gas leaks.
• Gas containers should be fitted or removed in well-ventilated areas,
preferably outdoors or in an open-air environment, away from flammable
substances/materials and incandescent sources of heat such as flames, lit
cigarettes, hot plates, etc., and away from other persons or animals.
• Do not use this appliance if the sealing O-ring or grommet is not in
perfect condition or missing.
• Do not perforate or burn a propane cylinder, even if it is empty. For
environmental reasons, these containers should be disposed of in
designated furnaces, or, preferably, be left in specific containers for
subsequent recycling.
LIGHTING A GRILL
1. Make a pile of the charcoal or briquettes. Ignite the lighter.
2. Touch the edge of the coal with the flame. The flame should spread to the
other briquettes in the pile.
3. The flames will eventually subside and the edges of the coals will turn gray.
This will spread to all the coals. Once all the edges of the coals are gray,
the grill is ready to use.
5. USING THE LIGHTER
Charcoal comes in a variety of forms, made from dierent materials. These
include standard charcoal, briquettes, lump charcoal, heat beads, hard wood,
and more. The times to ignite them and get them white and ready to use
diers, depending on their material and production quality.
Charcoal is mostly made from wood. However, much of the charcoal on the
market is not high-quality charcoal, generally made from fast-growing trees,
and often chilled with water to speed up production. Lower-quality charcoal
creates sparks when ignited (not dangerous, but not always fun, either), and
charcoal that is produced from hard wood will take longer to ignite and get
ready to use.
Good quality charcoal lights quickly and without sparks, is ready to use in a
couple minutes with the charcoal lighter, and burns for a longer duration.
Charcoal briquettes are created from pulverized charcoal compressed with
corn starch as a binding agent. Briquettes produce a lot of smoke (from the
starch), while ordinary charcoal is smokeless. Some companies compress
their briquettes with significantly more pressure, which makes them burn
much longer—lasting up to four hours. However, these briquettes take a
longer time to ignite and get ready for use. We recommend only using these
higher-quality briquettes when you intend to barbecue for a few hours.
6. TIPS AND TRICKS
• You may clean the lighter surfaces with a dry cloth after it has been
unplugged and fully cooled down. Do not use water, soap, or petroleum-
based cleaners to clean any components of the lighter or the lighter body.
