parts of the original index/meter/gas pipes. Do not use a power tool. Carefully pull the
tamper seal out of the hole, hooking it with the tool if necessary.
3. There are two screws holding the original index onto the meter located behind the tamper
seals just removed. Unscrew both screws while holding the original index. Do not discard
the screws.
4. Firmly and slowly pull the original index straight away from the meter.
5. Align the new index’s screw holes with the screw holes of the meter (oriented as shown in
the following image). Slowly align the new index with the meter until it contacts the meter
.
Gently push the new index onto the meter so that the 6-pin connectors from the meter
and the new index fully engage. The new index should be flush with the meter.
6. Use the screws from the original index to attach the new index to the meter. Tighten the
screws by hand with a Phillips or slot head screwdriver to a torque between 6 and 15
inch-pounds.
7.
Ensure the head of the screws secure to the index housing. If torque monitoring is
available, torque the screws to 6-15 inch-pounds.
8. Install the two new tamper seals (included with the new index) in the two tamper seal
holes on the new index's front face, pushing them firmly into each hole. On each tamper
seal, there is a raised letter “S” that is part of the plastic. Make sure this “S” is pointing out
of the screw hole, so that it is visible after installation. The replacement procedure is
complete.
