Using Gel-cap Connectors to Complete Wiring
Connections
This section provides the instructions to complete remote ERT module to meter wiring con-
nections. Gel-cap connections require:

E-9R 3M® gel-cap crimping tool
■
3M gel-cap connectors (Itron part number CON-0023-001)
1. Push the two wires into the connector as far as possible.
Caution: Do not strip insulation from the ends of the wires
before inserting them into the connector.
2. Place the connector and connector wires into the jaws of
the crimping tool. Ensure that the wires remain fully inserted in
the connector.
3. Squeeze the handles to crimp the connector. Apply pres-
sure until the cap is fully seated (at least three seconds).
