3.1.2CreatingandsendingSMSandMMSmessages
Youcancomposetext(SMS)messagesofupto 160characters.Ifyoucontinueto
typeafterthelimitisreached,yourmessagewillbedeliveredasone,butcountas
morethanonemessage.Thesearecalledconcatenatedmessages.
Multimedia messages, also kn
own as MMS, can contain text and a picture, a
recordedvoice,anaudioorvideofile,apictureslideshow.
3.1.3Tocreateandsendatextmessage
i. OntheAllMessagesscreen,tapcreatethecomposescreenopens.
ii. Enter the phone number (the message recipient) in th
e To field. As you
enterthephonenumber,matchingcontactswillappearonthescreen.Tap
arecipientorcontinueenteringtherecipient’sphonenumber.
Note:Onlyshowthesavedtocontactmobilephonenumber.
iii. Tap the text box that contains the text “Type message”, and then start
composingyourme
ssage.
Note:Asyoucomposeyourmessage,acounterwillappearinthetoprightcorner
ofthetextboxtotellyouhowmanycharactersrightnow.Onceyougoover160‐
character, a new message is created but automatically joined into one when
received.
4.Whendone,tapSendtose
ndthetextmessage.
Note: To receive delivery reports and know when a text message is received, in
the All threads screen, press MENU and then tap Settings. In the SMS settings
section,selecttheDeliveryreportscheckbox.
3.1.4 Tocreateandsendamultimedia(MMS)message
i. Onth
eAllthreadsscreen,tapcreatetoopentheComposescreen.
ii. Enter the mobile phone number or email address of your message
recipientsintheTofield.Asyouenterthephonenumberoremailaddress,
matching contacts will appear on the screen. Tap a recipient or continue
enteringth
erecipient’sphonenumberoremailaddress.
