3.1.2CreatingandsendingSMSandMMSmessages

Youcancomposetext(SMS)messagesofupto 160characters.Ifyoucontinueto

typeafterthelimitisreached,yourmessagewillbedeliveredasone,butcountas

morethanonemessage.Thesearecalledconcatenatedmessages.

Multimedia messages, also kn

own as MMS, can contain text and a picture, a

recordedvoice,anaudioorvideofile,apictureslideshow.

3.1.3Tocreateandsendatextmessage

i. OntheAllMessagesscreen,tapcreatethecomposescreenopens.

ii. Enter the phone number (the message recipient) in th

e To field. As you

enterthephonenumber,matchingcontactswillappearonthescreen.Tap

arecipientorcontinueenteringtherecipient’sphonenumber.

Note:Onlyshowthesavedtocontactmobilephonenumber.

iii. Tap the text box that contains the text “Type message”, and then start

composingyourme

ssage.

Note:Asyoucomposeyourmessage,acounterwillappearinthetoprightcorner

ofthetextboxtotellyouhowmanycharactersrightnow.Onceyougoover160‐

character, a new message is created but automatically joined into one when

received.

4.Whendone,tapSendtose

ndthetextmessage.

Note: To receive delivery reports and know  when a text message is received, in

the All threads screen, press MENU and then tap Settings. In the SMS settings

section,selecttheDeliveryreportscheckbox.

3.1.4 Tocreateandsendamultimedia(MMS)message

i. Onth

eAllthreadsscreen,tapcreatetoopentheComposescreen.

ii. Enter the mobile phone number or email address of your message

recipientsintheTofield.Asyouenterthephonenumberoremailaddress,

matching contacts will appear on the screen. Tap a recipient or continue

enteringth

erecipient’sphonenumberoremailaddress.
