6.1.2 Wi‐Fi
Wi‐Fi provides wireless Internet access over distances of up to 100 feet (100
meters).Touse Wi‐Fi on your phone, youneedaccesstoa wirelessaccesspoint
or“hotspot”.
Note: The availability and range of the Wi‐Fi signal depends on the num
ber,
infrastructure,andotherobjectsthroughwhichthesignalpasses.
6.1.2.1 TurningWi‐Fionandconnectingtoawirelessnetwork
i. TapSettings>Wirelesscontrols.
ii. Select the Wi‐Fi check box to turn Wi‐Fi on. The phone will scan for
availablewirelessnetworks.
iii. TapWi‐Fisettings.Thenetwo
rknamesandsecuritysettings(Opennetwork
orSecuredwithWEP)ofdetectedWi‐FinetworksaredisplayedintheWi‐
Finetworkssection.
iv. TapaWi‐Finetworktoconnect.Ifyouselectedanopen network,youwill
beautomaticallyconnectedtothenetwork.Ifyouselecte
danetworkthat
issecuredwithWEP,enterthekeyandthentapConnect.
6.1.2.2 Checkingthewirelessnetworkstatus
Youcancheckthecurrentwirelessconnectionstatusfromthefollowing:
•Statusbar
Whenyourphoneisconnectedtoawirelessnetwork,theWi‐Fiicon
appears
inthestatus barandtellsyoutheapproximatesignalstrength(numberofbands
thatlightup).IfNetworknotificationinWi‐Fisettingsisenabled,thisiconappears
in the status bar whenever the phone detects an available wireless network
withinrange.

OntheWirelesscontrolsscree
n,tapWi‐Fisettings,thentapthewirelessnetwor k
that the phone is currently connected to. A message box will be displayed
showingtheWi‐Finetworkname,status,speed,signalstrength,andmore.

Forget on this window. You need to enter the settings again if you want to
connecttothiswirelessnetwo
