SPECIAL NOTES ABOUT THE RADIO CONTROLLED CLOCK
ThetimesignalDCF77istransmittedbytheatomicclockinMainingennearFrankfurt/Main.Thelong-wavetransmitterhasarangeofupto1500km.
If the time icon isdisplayedwithoutwavesyouhavereceptionproblems.Pleaseobservefollowingpoints:
- Therearefewerdisturbancesintheatmosphereduringthenightwhichincreasesthelikelinessofreception.Onereceptionperdayiscompletelysufcientto
ensuretheprecisenessoftheclockby+/-1second.
- Makesurethatthedeviceisatleast2meters(8feet)awayfrompossiblesourcesofdisturbancesuchasTV,computer,monitor,microwaveetc.
- Inroomswithconcreteormetalwalls(e.g.cellarrooms,modernofcebuildingsetc.)thereceiptofthesignalmaybemoredifcultduetotheshielding.Insuch
casesndabetterlocationforthedevicenearawindow.Sometimesitalsohelpstosimplyturnthedeviceby90°,therebyimprovingthealignmentofthereceiving
antenna.
RECEIVING LOGIC
1. ThetimetransmittedbythetimesignaltransmitterDCF77isautomaticallyreceivedwhenthebatteriesareactivated.Thetimesignalreceptiontakesabout3-10
minutes. During receiving the iconwillblink,ifreceptionisgoodwithwaves,ifreceptionispoorwithout.
2. Ifyouwouldliketoswitchtheautomatictimereceptionoffandthenonagainyoucandosointhe“set-up”orwiththe▲key(seechapter1).
3. Duringnormaloperationanautomatictimereceptionwillbeactivateddailyat3:00,4:00,5:00and6:00.
4. Assoonasthedevicehasreceivedasignalthetimewillbecorrectlyadjustedandthe icon is active.
5. If reception is poor the iconwillbedisplayed.Youmaythensettheclockmanuallyatanytime.Thenextreceptionattemptwillthenbeactivatedduringthenight.
Youcanchoosebetweentwobasicoperatingmodesfortheclock:
1)Radiocontrolledclockwithregulartimereceptions(RC=ON).Inbetweentheactivereceptionsthetimerunsonintegratedquartz.
Timezonesetting(standard=0,adjustablefrom-2to+2hours):
TimedeviationascomparedwiththereceivedradiotimeastherespectivelyvalidtimeinCentralEurope(Germany,France,Switzerland,Denmarketc.).Ifyouseta
timezonetheaccordinglycorrectedtimewillappearonthetimedisplay.ThisisidealforlocationswheretheDCF77timesignalisreceivedbutthathaveadifferent
time such as Great Britain (-1HR) or Finland (+1HR)
2)Strictlyasaquartzclock(RC=OFFintheset-up)
Werecommendthisoperatingmodeforlocationswherethetimesignalcannotbereceived.Switchingoffthereceiversparesthebatteries.
