Always sharpen the saw away from your body. Sharpen chainsaw’s cutting teeth or cutters as shown
below. The sharpening guide should lay flat on the chain with the stone positioned in the cutter at the
angle recommended by the manufacturer. Use the guide lines on the top of the sharpening guide for
reference.
When sharpening, use two or three light strokes back and forth with the sharpener. Let the sharpener
and stone do the work. Sharpen all cutters equally.
When all the teeth on the top of the bar have been sharpened, use a glove or rag to advance the
chain by pulling towards the end of the bar. Sharpen remaining cutters evenly.
After Each Use
Let the tool cool down and place it in a clean, dry place after use.
Maintenance
Maintain the sharpener by adopting a program of conscientious repair and maintenance in
accordance with the following recommended procedures. It is recommended that the general
condition of any tool be examined before it is used. Keep your tool in good repair. Keep all cutting
tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to
bind and are easier to control. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. The following
chart is based on a normal operation schedule.
