⚠WARNING WORK AREA SAFETY • Inspect the work area before each use. Keep work area clean, dry, free of clutter, and well-lit. Cluttered, wet, or dark work areas can result in injury. Using the product in confined work areas may put you dangerously close to cutting tools and rotating parts. • Do not use the product where there is a risk of causing a fire or an explosion; e.g., in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust.
Inspect the tool for good working condition prior to storage and before re-use. • Use only accessories that are recommended by the manufacturer for use with your product. Accessories that may be suitable for one product may create a risk of injury when used with another tool. Never use an accessory that has a lower operating speed or operating pressure than the tool itself. • Keep guards in place and in working order. Never operate the product without the guards in place.
Extension Cords ⚠WARNING • USE A PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in loss of power and cause overheating. • Be sure your extension cord is properly wired and in good condition. Always replace a damaged extension cord or have it repaired by a qualified person before using it.
Main Parts of Grease Gun If any parts are missing, do not operate the tool until the missing parts are replaced. Subassembly Grease Gun Body Grease Tube Assembly High-pressure Hose 14.4 V Battery Pack Assembly Instructions ⚠WARNING • Recharge only with the charger specified for the battery. For specific charging instructions, read the operator’s manual supplied with your charger and battery.
To remove the battery, push the release buttons and pull the battery pack away from the tool. To insert the battery, slide the pack into the body of the tool. Make sure it latches securely into place. Before Each Use ⚠WARNING • To avoid contamination in the grease gun, always make sure the barrel (inside and outside) and surfaces contacting the barrel are clean of dirt, dust and debris. This debris can be pulled into the grease gun and clog the valve.
Charger Operation • If the battery pack is installed in the gun, remove it by depressing the two battery release buttons (one button on each side of the battery pack) and pulling the battery pack out of the gun. • Insert the charger power plug into the 120V/ 60hz power socket. • Do not force the battery into the charger. The red light indicates charging and the green light indicates completion of charging. • Press the “SET” button on the charger to begin charging.
Figure 2 • Remove the pull-tab from the grease cartridge and screw the grease tube assembly clockwise into the gun. • To release the follower rod, depress the follower key and push the follower rod forward into the grease tube assembly. Purge the air from the pump. See the Purging Air Pockets section. Filling the Gun from a Bulk Container • Rotate the grease tube assembly counter-clockwise to unscrew the grease tube assembly from the gun.
• When you have finished applying grease, remove the high-pressure hose coupler from the grease fitting by pulling it sideways. See Figure 6. ⚠WARNING • The pressure relief valve is factory preset at 7,000 PSI (+/- 500 PSI). Do not adjust the pressure relief valve. If backpressure in the high-pressure hose exceeds the factory’s preset pressure rating, grease will be discharged through the pressure relief valve (see Figure 7) to prevent motor overload and to limit grease pressure within the hose.
Figure 9 • Carefully release the follower handle to eject the empty cartridge from the grease tube assembly. Re-Priming NOTE: The gun may lose its prime due to air pockets in the lubricant. 1. Withdraw the follower rod from the grease tube assembly and firmly push the follower rod back into the grease tube assembly. 2. Squeeze the trigger switch in short bursts until all air pockets are expelled. If this step fails to reprime the gun, unscrew the grease tube assembly 1-1/2 turns. 3.
After Each Use ⚠WARNING • If the supply cord of the charger is damaged, it must be replaced only by a qualified service technician. • When storing, always remove the battery pack from the grease gun. Keep the grease gun and its accessories in a clean, dry location and out of the reach of children. • When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another.
Maintain the grease gun by adopting a program of conscientious repair and maintenance in accordance with the following recommended procedures. It is recommended that the general condition of any tool be examined before it is used. Keep your tool in good repair. Keep handles dry, clean, and free from oil and grease. The following chart is based on a normal operation schedule.
Failure Pressure relief valve remains open. Continuous loss of prime. Performance decreases over time. Possible Cause Corrective Action Blocked motor housing vents. Wear ANSI-approved safety goggles and NIOSH-approved dust mask/respirator while blowing dust out of motor using compressed air. Blockage in the line or the grease fitting. Check the hose and the grease fitting. Air pockets have developed. Empty the grease tube assembly, refill, and re-prime.
