Intended Use This Ironton 12 Volt Chainsaw Sharpener with Bar Mount can be powered by any 12V battery and runs at 4200 RPM. It features a high-impact motor housing that is designed to stay cool during use. Includes 4-1/4" x1/8" grinding wheel with 7/8" arbor. grounding plug. The plug MUST be plugged into a matching receptacle that is properly installed and grounded in accordance with ALL local codes and ordinances. DO NOT MODIFY THE PROVIDED PLUG. If it will not fit the receptacle, have the proper receptacle installed by a qualified electrician. CHECK with a qualified electrician or service person if you do not completely understand the grounding instructions, or if you are not sure the tool is properly grounded.
USE A PROPER EXTENSION CORD. Make sure your extension cord is in good condition. When using an extension cord, be sure to use one heavy enough to carry the current your product will draw. An undersized cord will cause a drop in line voltage, resulting in loss of power and cause overheating. Be sure your extension cord is properly wired and in good condition. Always replace a damaged extension cord or have it repaired by a qualified person before using it.
2. While holding the grinder assemblies, guide plates in the proper position, tighten the mounting screw knob to secure the unit to the chainsaw bar. Adjust the left and right guide plate adjustment screws to the desired tension. Move the saw chain along the bar to make sure guide plates are not over-tightened. See photo: 3.
4. Position the cutter to be ground (left or right) into the appropriate grind position. See photo: 5. Move the chain stop into the proper position by loosening finger wheel nut on back end of unit and sliding the stop forward or backwards depending on current position. See photo: 6.
9. Lower the grind head/wheel into the grind position and grind the chain cutter. 10. After grind is complete, allow the grind head/wheel to raise to the upper rest position. 11. Using caution, pull the saw chain forward on the bar until the next cutter to be ground is in the appropriate position. Then repeat steps 7-10 until all cutters (left or right) have been ground. 12. Once all cutters of the same side (left or right) have been ground, repeat steps 9-11 on the opposite side cutters. 13.

Keep hands clear from grinding wheel during use. Turn the chainsaw engine OFF before mounting the sharpener. Do not allow chainsaw engine to be running while sharpening.

Place a gauge (depth gauge setting tool) on the chain in the vise over the depth gauge portion of the cutter. 2.
Replace the grinding wheel once it has worn down to a diameter of 3". Maintenance ⚠WARNING Do not use on any other objects other than a chainsaw. Place it in a dry and clean place. Maintain the sharpener by adopting a program of conscientious repair and maintenance in accordance with the following recommended procedures. It is recommended that the general condition of any tool be examined before it is used. Keep your tool in good repair. Keep all cutting tools sharp and clean.
Performance decreases over time. Accessory dull or damaged. Excessive noise or rattling. Internal damage or wear. Keep cutting accessories sharp. Replace as needed. Have technician service tool.
