Cold Weather Release
Iron doors are manufactured using slabs of iron disallowing a thermal break in the door,
resulting in exceptionally stable, secure and lasting doors. Due to this construction method and
materials used in the production of iron doors, they are by design subject to possible thermal
transfer and resulting condensation build-up, most likely during periods of extreme cold.
During sustained periods of extreme cold weather (typically well below freezing of 32°
Fahrenheit), this transfer may result in condensation on the interior of the door. Some
contributing factors attributable to this potential occurrence include, but are not limited to:
elevated moisture levels found inside the home, heat registers located close to the doors and
extreme temperature differences between inside and outside the home.
The possibilities of moisture build-up including but not limited to the outlined above, does not
negatively impact the door, nor is it a sign of substandard manufacturing methods or product
defect, but could negatively impact trim and flooring if left unattended.
The potential for this event lessens as temperatures remain at or above freezing.
By signing below, Buyer acknowledges that Iron Doors Unlimited, LLC’s doors are constructed of
iron, insulated with Polyurethane foam insulation and that all glass panels are double paned
and tempered for additional insulation. Buyer also acknowledges understanding of the
possibilities outlined above, and agrees to not hold Iron Doors Unlimited responsible in the
event that issues occur from this thermal transfer and possible moisture presence.
