Volume Key: Controls the sound volume. Power / Hold Switch: Turns on/off the power by sliding to the power and lock the device by sliding to the hold. Touch LCD: Displays the screen and operate by touching it. Earphones Jack: Connects the earphone to output the sound. USB Port: Connects to the computer using this USB port. Micro SD Card Slot: Inserts the Micro SD card to view the files on the card. HDMI Jack: Connects the HDMI cable to output video and sound through the external device.
Charge LED: Shows the charged status of the product and automatically turns off when fully charged. Infrared Remote Control Receiver: Receives the infrared signal from the remote control. MIC: Records voice. Speaker: Produces sounds. Power Management Power on/off 1. Slide the [Power/Hold Switch] in the direction of [ ] until power comes on. 2. When the product is on, slide the [Power/Hold Switch] in the direction of [ until power goes off.
This model supports an automatic power-saving feature to minimize battery consumption. Depending on [SETTING – Power Management - Auto Power Off], the product will be automatically turned off when keys are not operated for a specified time. (Refer to page 78) Using the Hold Function 1. When the product is on, lock the device by sliding the [Power/Hold Switch] in the direction of [ ]. 2. Unlock the device by sliding the [Power/Hold Switch] in the opposite direction of [ ].
Using the Reset Function 1. If buttons will not work while the device is being used, press [RESET]. Current time and memory data are preserved during reset. To avoid damaging the memory, do not use reset function while the device is playing. Charging the Battery 1. Insert a plug into a socket of power adapter, and connect with DC IN jack. The battery will charge. The Charge LED displays in white when charging. The LED turns off when the device is fully charged. Turn the device off when charging.
The battery will be fully charged within about 6 hours. (Based on fully discharged, power off). Using the product while charging may extend the charging time and prevent the device from being fully charged. To avoid malfunctions, only use the power adapter provided. When connected to the USB cable, the power supply is so low that the battery may be discharged. Verify that the device is charged by using the power adapter. Charge and store the product at room temperature.
Connecting the Product Connecting Earphones 1. Connect the earphones to the earphone jack. Connecting to Your Computer 1. Turn on the device and computer. 2. Connect the device to the computer using USB connection and display screen offers connection modes.
Use ONLY the USB cable provided. Other cables may cause malfunction. For successful computer/USB connection, disable all functions. Check that the device is connected to a high-power USB 2.0 port. Connecting to a keyboard or a USB hub without a power supply of its own may result in malfunction. When connected to the USB cable, the power supply is so low that the battery may be discharged. Verify that the device is charged by using the power adapter. Disconnecting from your computer 1.
We recommend using a safe disconnection of the operating system when disconnecting the USB. Safe disconnection may not be performed if application programs such as Windows Explorer or Windows Media Player are being used. Make sure that the device is safely disconnected after all the active application programs are closed. If safe disconnection fails, retry later. Failure to safely disconnect may result in data loss. Copying Files (Folders) to the Product 1.
Please connect the USB cable properly. If the power of the computer or product is turned off or the USB cable is disconnected while copying or moving files/folders, serious damage to the memory may result. Transfer rate may differ depending on the computer or OS environment available for your region.
Deleting Files (Folders) from the Product 1. Select the files/folders to be deleted, right-click on them and select [Delete]. 2. Click [Yes] when the [Confirm File/Folder Deletion] window pops up, and the selected files/folders will be deleted.
Connecting it to TV 1. Use the HDMI cable to connect the HDMI jack of the product to the external device. 2. When the video playback screen is displayed on the external device, the video and sound of the device will be outputted through the external device. 3. Press the remote control button to view a file. Turn on the external device, and connect it to the product. Set [TV Out] of the video option to [ON]. Set resolution in [TV Resolution] of the video option.
If the resolution of TV is set to 480P, only the screen in video playback can be displayed on the external device. If you want to display other screen, be sure to set to the different resolution. Press the [TV Out] button of the remote control during video playback to immediately display the video on the external device. Press the [TV Out] button of the remote control while using other functions to display the home screen.
Recommended SD cards Brand: SanDisk, Transcend Insert/remove the Micro SD card while the power is off. Do not force the Micro SD card. Malfunction and damage to the Micro SD card may result. Please do not repeatedly insert/remove the Micro SD card. Do not remove the Micro SD card when in use. Data deletion, malfunction, or damage to the Micro SD card may result. If the Micro SD card is not positioned properly, the device may malfunction or the card may become stuck. Use only the recommended Micro SD cards.
If a Micro SD card is not recognized or malfunctions, reformat and retry. Micro SD cards can be purchased separately. Use Micro SD cards up to 32GB. Connecting to HOST Device (Standard MSC) 1. Connect the device to the HOST device (Standard MSC) using USB host cable when the device is off. HOST Device (Standard MSC) Some products such as Digital Camera, External HDD, etc.
Home Screen Functions may be supported differently according to the model. Home Screen Legend : Display the current location. : Display the USB connection. : Display the Micro SD Card connection. Using Touch Screen 1. This device is equipped with a touch screen system that is activated by touching the screen. Touch the desired function among those displayed on the screen to execute it. Forcefully touching the screen with a pointer or other sharp object may damage it. Moving Domain 1. Move the screen to [Left/Right 25 U s i n g P 8 ] on the home screen to move the domain.
Selecting Options 1. Turn on power to display the home screen. - Press the [ ] while using the device to display the home screen. 2. Select the desired mode to play that mode. 3. Press the [ ] while running the mode to display the previous screen. Moving Up and Down in the List 1. Move up/down in the list by using [Up/Down 26 U s i n g P 8 ] in the list screen.
MUSIC Selecting Music 1. Select [Music] on the home screen to display the music list. 2. Press the desired music in the music list to play it. Press [ ] in the music mini player window to play the desired music. Press [ / ] to hear the previous/next song. Select the music mini player window and press [ Select the folder to access files within it. Press [ ] to display the music play screen. ] to go to the upper folder.
Press [Local Disk - Recent Play] in the upper right corner to play recently played music. During playback, press [Local Disk – Now Playing] to display the music play screen. Continuous Playback Time: approx. 50 hours (based on MP3, 128Kbps, 44.1kHz, Vol 20, LCD OFF, EQ Normal) Supported file formats: MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV, APE and FLAC Playing Music - Press the [ / ] to control volume. - While playing, press the [ / ] to pause/resume. - While playing, press the [ / ] to play the previous/next music.
- While playing, select [ ] at point A and press the [ ] again to select point B. Now the player repeatedly plays between points A and B. Press the [ ] again to deactivate the loop playback. - While playing, press [ ] to set the play mode. - While playing, press [ Normal] to set EQ. - While playing, press [1.0X] to set playback speed. - While playing, press [ ] to set the rating of the selected music.

VIDEO Selecting Video 1. In the home menu, select the [Video] to display the video scan list. 2. In the video list, press the selected video to play it. Select a bookmark in the video bookmark list of the home screen to play that video immediately. Select a folder to enter it and press [ ] to go to the higher-level folder. Press the [Local Disk/Bookmark List] button in the upper right-hand corner of the video list screen to change the video list. Continuous Playing Time: approx.
Playing Videos - Press the [ / ] button to control the volume. - While playing, press the [ / ] button to pause/resume. - While playing, press the [ / ] button to play previous/next file. - Move to the desired location on the progress status bar by touching it during playback. - Press [1.0X] in the screen during playback to set the playback speed. - Press [ ] in the screen during playback to add the playback location to the bookmark.

FM RADIO Executing FM Radio 1. When selecting [FM Radio] in the home screen, the radio frequency will be displayed. 2. Select a radio broadcast by pressing [ / ] or [ / ]. While listening to FM radio, the earphones serve as its antenna. (Connect and use only the supplied earphones for best reception.) Move along the frequency band to listen to the desired frequency.
Listening to FM Radio - Control the volume while listening by pressing the [ / ] button. - Move to a higher or lower frequency by pressing [ / ]. - If there is no saved channel, press the [ / ] in the screen to move up and down the frequency band to find the desired frequency. - If there is a saved channel, press the [ / ] in the screen to move to the previous/next channel. - Press the [ UP / DOWN ] button in the screen to move to the next/previous channel.

PICTURE Selecting Pictures 1. In the home screen, select [Picture] to display picture list. 2. In the list, press the the picture to play it with full screen. Select a folder to enter it, and press [ ] to move to a higher-level folder. Press [Local Disk] in the upper right screen to select the external memory when a Micro SD card is inserted. Supported file formats: JPG, BMP, PNG, GIF (Some file types may not be fully compatible.
Viewing Pictures - While viewing full screen, press the [Left / Right] button to play the previous / next pictures. - Press the screen while the full screen is displayed to display the toolbar window. - Press [ ] in the toolbar window to start the slide show, and press the screen during the slide show to stop it. - Press [Detail View] in the toolbar window to change the screen. + : Rotate the screen 90 degrees counterclockwise. + : Rotate the screen 90 degrees clockwise. + + : Magnify the screen.
- Press [List View] in the toolbar window to display the file list in the right portion of the screen. + : Quit the screen list view. - Press [Photo Frame] in the toolbar window to display the selected area in the home screen. + Any photo smaller than 192x192 is not supported. - Press [Wallpaper] in the toolbar window to save the displayed photo as a background screen. eBook Selecting Files 1. In the home screen, select [eBook] to display the file list. 2. Press the file to display in the file list and the selected file will be displayed in the full screen. Select a folder to enter it and press [ ] to move to the higher-level folder. To use a Micro SD card, press [Local Disk] in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and select external memory.
Viewing Files - While viewing files, move the [Up / Down ] button to display the previous / next pages. - While viewing files, press the screen to display the toolbar window. - Press [ ] in the toolbar window to start auto scroll and press the screen to stop it. - Press [ ] in the toolbar window to add the displayed location to the bookmark. + The added bookmark can be viewed in [File Search - Bookmark] in the file list. + Press [ ] in the bookmark list to delete the bookmark.

RECORDING Recording 1. In the home screen, select [Recording] to display the select recording window. 2. Press [ ] in the screen to set up recording quality. 3. Press [ ] in the screen to start recording. - Press [ ] in the screen during recording to pause and press [ 4. Press [ ] to resume. ] in the screen during recording to stop. Maximum recording time is 5 hours. Recording will be automatically stopped when the available memory or power is insufficient.
The recorded file will be saved in the following format. VOICEYYMMDD_XXX.wma (YY: year, MM: month, DD: day, XXX: Sequential number) Recording file playback - Press [ ] in the screen to display the recording file list. + Select a file in the recording file list to play it. + Press [ / ] in the screen during playback to pause/resume. + Press [ / ] in the screen during playback to play the previous/next file. + Touch the progress status bar during playback to move to the desired location.

CALENDAR Viewing Calendar 1. Select [Calendar] in the home screen to display it. 2. Press [ / ] in the screen to display the desired year and month. Current Time Settings 1. Press [ 2. Press [ 70 U s i n g ] in the screen to display the date setup screen. / ] to set the current date and time.
FILE BROWSER Execute and manage a variety of files stored in the device. Browsing Files 1. In the home screen, select [File Browser] to display the file list. Select a folder to enter it and press [ ] to move to the higher-level folder. To use a Micro SD card, press [Local Disk] in the upper right-hand corner of the screen and select external memory.
Copying Files (Folders) to the Product 1. Place a checkmark next to the selection box and press it to select the file/folder to copy. - Multiple selections are ok. 2. Press [Copy] on the right of the file list, and select the location to copy. 3. Press [Paste] in the screen to copy the selected file/folder. Moving Files (Folders) to the Product 1. Place a checkmark next to the selection box and press it to select the file/folder to move. - Multiple selections are ok. 2.
Deleting Files (Folders) from the Product 1. Place a checkmark next to the selection box and press it to select the file/folder to delete. - Multiple selections are ok. 2. Press [Delete] on the right of the file list and select the location to delete. Press [Clear Select] on the right of the screen to deselect all selected boxes.
SETTING Set the desired user environment. The pre-installed menu structure may differ depending on the firmware version and model. Settings 1. Select [Setting] on the home screen. 2. Select desired items by clicking the left tab to see the setup list. 3. Set the item by pressing the desired setting.
General Date&Time Set the current time. Languages Select language for menu. Encoding Select language for encoding. Touch Sound Touch the screen to turn on/off the sound effect.
Screen Settings Brightness Set the screen brightness. User Background Specify whether to display the background screen set by the user. TV Resolution Set the output resolution of the TV screen. Touch Calibration Correct the touch location of the touch screen. Color Adjustment Correct the color of the screen.
Advanced Settings System Information Display the device system information. Restore Default Restore to the fractory default settings. System Format Delete all data in the memory.
Timer Settings Auto Power Off Power will be automatically turned off when there is no user activity for a preset time. Auto Display Off Set the time backlight is on. + In case where the screen is turned off by the auto display off, you must touch the touch screen within five seconds after turnoff to turn it on. After five seconds, you must press the button to turn it on again. Sleep Timer Power will be automatically turned off when the preset time is reached.
Upgrading the Firmware Upgrading the Firmware 1. Download the latest firmware from the iriver homepage. 2. Connect the product to the computer’s USB terminal with a USB cable. 3. Save the downloaded firmware file in the root of the product. 4. Disconnect the device from the computer to start firmware upgrade. 5. When upgrade is complete, the product will reboot. Insufficient battery power may prevent initiation of firmware upgrade.
Important safety information Relating to the Product - Leaving the same screen turned on for an extended period may result in an afterimage on the screen. - Do not allow metal (coins, hairpins, etc.) or foreign substances that burn easily to get inside the product. - Do not place heavy objects on top of the product.
- Do not expose device to magnets, TVs, monitors, speakers, or other objects with strong magnetism. - Do not use chemicals or cleaners on the product; they may degrade the surface and cause damage to the finish. - Do not drop the product, or subject it to strong impact or vibration. - Do not press multiple keys simultaneously. - Do not disconnect from USB cable when transmitting data. Disconnecting the device from the computer during data transmission may damage data.
Power Supply - Do not insert too many power plugs at once. - Do not forcefully bend the power adapter or place it under a heavy object. - Do not handle the power adapter with wet hands. - Make sure that the power adapter is securely inserted. - Unplug the power adapter during thunderstorms. - Use only the power adapter provided with the device. - Always disconnect the power adapter when not in use.
Others - Do not use or handle headphones/earphones when driving a bicycle, car, or motorcycle. It is not only dangerous but can also be illegal according to the region. - Do not use when driving, walking, or climbing. - Use this device only in hazard-free areas. - When using while on the move, check if there are any dangerous obstacles. - There is a risk of electric shock during electrical storms. Avoid use if possible. - If tinnitus (ringing in the ears) occurs, reduce the volume or discontinue use.
Troubleshooting Check! + The power does not come on. - Check available power in the battery. Check after charging with the power adapter. - Press the reset key using a pointed tool. + The battery does not charge even when the power adapter is connected. - Check that the power adapter is properly connected. - Check that the battery is fully charged. When charging is complete, the LED will turn off and not turn on even when the power adapter is connected.
+ There is an error on the computer when connecting the USB. - Check that the device is properly connected to the USB cable. + The capacity changes after formatting. - Slight changes in capacity may occur according to the OS of the computer being used. + The screen turned off without warning. - To save power consumption and to lengthen the audio file replay time, the device is designed to turn off after a specific period of inactivity.
