Section 8: Selecting the Output Format
The documents you process with Readiris can be saved in a large number of output formats, ranging
from plain text files to fully formatted Word processing and Spreadsheet files, and PDF files. With
Readiris you can also turn Image PDFs - in which you cannot select or copy any text - into fully text-
searchable PDF documents.
The output formats are displayed in the Format group.
The default formats are PDF, DOCX, ODT, EPUB and Audio.
To change the default formats:
Click the down arrow in the Format group.
Drag the required format to one of the top positions in the Favorites list.
The five top formats are displayed in the toolbar.
Below you find an overview of the supported output formats. For each of these output formats,
specific layout options are available. See the section Selecting the Layout Options for more
information.
PDF
PDF stands for "Portable Document Format". It is a format developed by Adobe Systems Inc. to
facilitate document exchange. PDF files are device-independent and resolution-independent, and
can be opened on any Operating System (Windows, Mac OS, Linux, iOS, Android, etc.) PDF files are
mostly used for storage purposes. Note that the content of PDF files cannot be edited (easily).
