Important! Always ‘Safely Remove’ the SD Card
Never remove the SD card while the device or Companion Software is busy. If the
card is removed information on the card could be lost or corrupted.
You can Safely Remove the SD card from the device by selecting
Menu>Safely Remove from the bottom row. A message will be displayed when it is
safe to remove the card from the device.
Using the Device without a SD Card
The device will still work without a card inserted, but because the card holds
the content, there isn’t much to look at. The Home and Settings icons will still
appear on the screen, but the shortcuts will have disappeared. All the settings
will be removed from the device, but it will remember the language, lights,
and sound settings as well as leave you the option to format new cards for the
device. You can read about these in the section about Settings.
Copying the Contents of the SD Card to a New Card or Computer
If you wish to upgrade to another SD card or make a backup of the card on
your computer, you can use the included iRex Companion Software to copy
or move the contents of the card to another location. Please refer to the
iRex Companion Software information for more details about making backups.
Using Your Card on another Device
If you were to insert your SD card in another device, your own settings will be
used on the new device. You will also be able to browse your own content on the
device, but any documents that are DRM (Digital Rights Management) protected
will not open.
