2.2.10.2. SpO
2
1821 Cable and 3882 oPOD
The wireless SpO
2
POD “3882 oPOD” and accessories are constructed of special material to
reduce the amount of radio frequency (RF) energy that can flow through the components. The
SpO
2
oPODs and accessories are designed for use in the MRI system bore but should remain
outside of the MRI procedure field of view (FOV), where possible.
The SpO
2
Sensor cable, P/N 1821 is fiber optic (glass), and mated to the SpO
2
oPOD
1. The 1821 SpO
2
sensor (1) is mechanically attached to the 3882 SpO
2
oPOD.
2. Assure that the SpO
2
sensor is firmly connected to the SpO
2
oPOD
3. Replacing the sensor requires removal to two screws which are non-magnetic, insert the
replacement SpO
2
sensor into the corresponding SpO
2
oPOD receptacle and re-apply
the non-magnetic screws. See Service manual for details.
4. Ensure that SpO
2
sensor is secure into the SpO
2
oPOD and not loose
5. Verify sensor operation by connecting it to a SpO
2
simulator or test subject if one is not
available
NOTE
• The SpO
2
sensor is a fiber optic assembly intended specifically for MRI use.

• Use only SpO
2
accessories specifically designed and authorized for use with the
IRadimed SpO
2
oPOD. Refer to section 9.1 for a complete list of available accessories.
• The SpO
2
sensors are constructed of fiber-optic glass and must always be handled with
care to prevent damage. Improper handling can result in inaccurate readings.
• Use only SpO
2
sensors specifically designed for use with the SpO
2
oPOD (part number
1821)
• Do not use magnetic tools inside of zone IV
