BATTERY MAINTENANCE & STORAGE

Be sure to properly maintain your battery. The internal batteries are sealed

lead acid battery.

Please charge batteries before use.

Batteries should

be kept fully charged whenever not in use. If the batteries sit without a full

charge or sits too long, the life of the batteries will be diminished. The sup-

plied charger should be used to charge the battery. As a general rule, leave

the charger hooked up for 12 to 18 hours and then disconnect. If the tester

is left sitting unused for an extended period of time, it is best to charge the

battery once a week to optimize the overall life of the battery. When main-

tained properly, the batteries should last several years before needing to be

replaced. However, it only takes a few days for permanent damage to occur

in a battery that has been left to sit fully discharged. These batteries cannot

be “boiled” as they are sealed, so it is extremely important to maintain them

properly. For all these possibilities of user errors, the battery carries a 30

day warranty from IPA®.

DO NOT USE ANY OTHER CHARGER OTHER THAN THE SUPPLIED CHARGER.

OVER CHARGING COULD DAMAGE THE BATTERY AND VOID THE WARRANTY.

• Wipe surface down with a well-wrung soft, damp cloth.

• Diluted dish washing liquid or similar substance can be used in the

dampened cloth if necessary.

• Dielectric grease can be used in 7 round pin sockets, cable and on bat-

tery clamps to prevent corrosion.

• Disconnect and remove battery when placing the SMART MUTT® into

long term storage.

• Store in a cool, dry area.
