4.4 Frequency Calibration
When the nanoBTS has been installed and configured, the local oscillator must be
calibrated.
The frequency calibration should be performed 10 minutes after the nanoBTS has been
powered up. This provides time for the oscillator to stabilise. The frequency calibration
should then be performed again 24 hours after the nanoBTS has been powered up.
The frequency calibration can be performed in two ways.
4.4.1 Frequency Synchronisation (Recommended)
The Frequency Synchronisation test in the Network Listen dialog can be used to calibrate
the nanoBTS.
During this test the nanoBTS measures the frequency error of the local oscillator relative to
the measured channel. The frequency errors are reported and the local oscillator can be
adjusted to reduce the error.
Note: The nanoBTS can only adjust its clock if the internal OCXO is the active clock
source.
1. Click Frequency Synchronisation.
2. Click Configure Test.
3. Make the required settings in the Configure Test dialog. To correct the reported
frequency errors select the Apply Frequency Sync Options check box, and
then select Adjust the clock to correct the reported errors from
the Flags Set drop-down list.
