Obtaining Authorizations
First of all you have to make sure that the required authorizations are present. These
authorizations are listed immediately under the state bar:
Room Interlocks: if the state of the interlocks is not OK, perform the operations
as described in Section “Verifying the Room Interlocks” on page 35-25.
Nozzle: if the state of the nozzle is not OK, perform the operations as described
in Section “Verifying the PBS Dedicated Nozzle” on page 35-11.
Both the room interlocks and the nozzle must be Ready.
Note: Before executing a beam request, make sure that the patient is correctly
positioned and that the Position Management System is prepared. Perform this
verification before each beam request in a treatment session.
Making a Beam Request
Note: Before making your actual beam request, you have the option to select Keep
allocation: when you select this option, the beam will remain allocated to your
treatment room for the next treatment beam of the same patient.
If you have one or more subsequent beams for the current patient and you do not
select this option, the beam may be allocated to another treatment room by the time
that you need it.
Select one of the following beam request types:
Normal priority request: any such request is added at the back of the list of
normal requests.
High priority request:
any such request jumps ahead of all normal priority requests in the list.
when beam is already allocated to another room that issued a normal
priority request, that room will be requested to release the beam in favor of
this high priority request.
Your request appears in the Pending list.
Note: The PTS takes into account beam requests in the scheduler queue at the
latest possible moment, i.e., when all user actions to prepare for irradiation have
been performed.
In practice, this means that all of the following conditions must exist:
entire nozzle preparation is complete
treatment room has been secured
positioning preparation is complete
the OIS is authorizing irradiation: in OIS mode and the OIS cooperates with the
PTS working in EMR (Electronic Medical Record) Centric mode
