Equipment Preparation for a Treatment Beam
Preparing the Treatment Room
Before starting an irradiation, the following final preparations shall be completed in
the Treatment Room (TR):
1. When treating in PBS: move the PBS Dedicated snout to ensure patient safety
and install the block and the range compensator (refer to Chapter 14, "Installing
and Removing Accessories into/from the Accessory Drawer or PBS Dedicated
Snout").
When the block and range compensator are installed, the corresponding
interlocks are cleared.
2. Move the equipment to the Tr e a t m e n t target position using the Auto mode on
the wireless hand pendant or the remote positioning controls.
3. Confirm the position.
4. Ensure that no one other than the patient is in the TR (that is, search the TR area)
and press the TR search button.

5. Leave the room within the required period of time. If you do not shut the TR
doors within this time, you will need to perform the search again.
WARNING As a Radiation Therapy Technologist (RTT) it is your responsibility to
verify that no foreign equipment remains in the beam path before
starting an irradiation (e.g. SDX spirometry system, immobilization
device, etc.).
WARNING Strictly adhere to the procedures established by your Administration
for searching the Treatment Room (TR) before proceeding to
irradiation.
