Importing a PLD (PBS Layer Definition) File
Using the Import PLD file button at the bottom right of the LAYE R EDITING SCREEN,
you may import an existing PLD file. Then you may proceed to modify the imported
data using the editable fields described in section Editing Layer and Spot Details On
the Layer Editing Screen.
In order to import a PLD file proceed as follows:
1. From the LAY ER EDITING SCREEN or the BEAM DISPLAY SCREEN, click the Import
PLD file button, located at the bottom right of the screen.
2. Using the ‘Please select a PLD file’ pop-up dialogue, browse for the required
PLD file on the disk and click the Open button to import the file.

Understanding PLD files
Using the PBS beam delivery mode, the PTS is able to deliver dose at any requested
position within the treatment volume by adapting the beam energy and the field in
the scanning magnets. This means that in order to perform an irradiation, the system
needs information about what has to be delivered. This information is contained in a
PLD file (.pld).
