8.3UsingBluetooth
Bluetoothisashort‐rangewirelesscommunicationtechnology.DeviceswithBluetoothcapabilitiescan
exchangeinformationoveradistanceofabout10meterswithoutrequiringaphysicalconnection.
Beforetransferringfiles,youmustturnonBluetoothandestablishaBluetoothpartnershipbetweenthe
deviceandtheotherdevice.
TurningonBluetooth
1. SelectStartSettingsConnectionstabBluetoothModetab.
2. SelecttheTurnonBluetoothoption.
CreatingaBluetoothPartnership
1. SelectStartSettingsConnectionstabBluetooth,thenselecttheDevicetab.
2. SelectAddnewdevice.ThedevicesearchesforotherBluetooth‐enableddevicesanddisplays
theminthelist.
3. SelectthedevicewithwhichyouwanttocreateaBluetoothpartnership,thenselectNext.If
the
deviceyouarelookingfordoesnotappearinthelist,ensurethatitisin rangeand thatit
hasbeenmadediscoverable,thenselectRefresh.
4. In Passcode,enteranalphanumericpasscodebetween1and16characters,thenselectNext.
Otherwise,leavethepasscodeblank.Forsecurityreasons,itisstronglyrecommendedthatyou
useapasscode.
5. Enterthesamepasscodeontheotherdevice(therewillbeaprompttodoso).
6. Selecttheservicetousefromthepartnerdevice,andsele ctFinish.Oneofthemostcommon
examplesofthisistochoosetheMicrosoftActiveSyncservicefromthelistofyourPC’s
availableBluetoothservices.
ReceivingaFile
Beforereceivingfiles,youmustallowincomingbeams.SelectStartSettingsConnectionstabBeam,
thenenabletheReceiveallincomingbeamsoption.
Toreceivebeamedinformation,thedevicemustfirstbemadediscoverable.
