the operator to wait some time patiently, and then the system will
automatically open the borrowing/return gate for the operator to put in
the book to be returned (must ensure the book is not damaged, and the
tag is in good condition), with attention given to the basic requirements
(spine facing outside, putting in on a flat basis), and close the
borrowing/return gate in a timely manner. After the end of return, a
slip can be printed for keeping.
6.5 Detailed Operating Instructions
6.5.1 Patron Borrowing Process
The Anytime Library uses SIP2 to communicate with the LMS. All
borrowing rules are automatically followed including blocked
borrower lists, loan limits etc. Patrons can borrow multiple items from
the Anytime Library – the carousel holds 336 items, but the library can
circulate many more items than this through the unit depending on
demand. Borrowed items are checked out to the patron’s account
automatically. The unit is designed to be simple to use and intuitive.
