TheInvacarePlatinumMobileusesamolecularsieveandpressure
swingadsorptionmethodologytoproducetheoxygengasoutput.
Ambientairentersthedevice,isfilteredandthencompressed.This
compressedairisthendirectedintoanitrogenadsorbingsievebed.
Concentratedoxygenexitstheoppositeendofthesievebedandis
directedintoanoxygenreservoirfromwhichitisdeliveredtothe
patient.
Theoxygenpurityleveloftheoutputgasrangesfrom87%to95.6%.
Theoxygenisdeliveredtothepatientthroughtheuseofanasal
cannula.Apulsedosedeliverymethodisused.Theconcentrator
detectsthestartofpatientinhalationanddeliversameasuredpulse
ofoxygen.Nofurtheroxygenisdelivereduntilthenextpatient
inhalationisdetected.Thevolumeofoxygendeliveredeachminuteis
afixedamountbasedontheselectedpulseflowsetting.Thevolume
ofeachoxygenpulsewillvarywiththepatient’sbreathratesuchthat
thefixedminutevolumeismaintained.
TheInvacarePlatinumMobileiscapableofoperationbythepatientin
ahome,institution,vehicle,orotherenvironmentsoutsidethehome.

poweradapteroperatingfromanACpoweroutlet(100–240VAC,
50–60Hertznominal),aDCpowercableoperatingfroman
accessoryoutlettypicallyfoundinavehicletypeenvironment(12
