9 MAINTENANCE

❑ Inspect all bolts and rivets to ensure that they are securely tightened and functioning properly.
❑ Inspect bed ends for proper operation.
A. Adjust bed ends to the lowest position.
B. Remove bed ends from head or foot spring.
C. Remove bed end caps and plastic cover.
D. Inspect cables and pulleys for wear.
E. Inspect Acme screws for lubrication. Apply a light lithium based grease if necessary.
F. Reinstall the plastic cover and end caps.
❑ Check casters to ensure they lock, if applicable, and roll properly.
Electrical Inspection and Maintenance
❑ Inspect all electrical bed components for damage or excessive wear (i.e., cracked or broken housings, or worn components).
❑ Check pendant, power and motor cords for chafing, cuts or excessive wear.
❑ Make sure all plugs are fully attached and free of damage.
❑ Check all functions (head, foot, and bed ends raise and lower properly).
❑ Inspect all electrical bed components:
• Chafing
• Nicks in the insulation
• Missing insulation
• Exposed internal wiring or conductors
• Signs of pinching or crushing
• Broken or deformed connectors
If these conditions are present, the bed MUST not be used until the damaged component/wiring is replaced. Modification
or other forms or repair including electrical or similar tape MUST NEVER be used.
