Siga los pasos enumerados y consulte las ilustraciones a que hacen referencia.

O DE NO APRETAR EN EXCESO LOS TORNILLOS O DAÑARÁ LAS ROSCAS EN
LA CAJA DE EMPALMES Y/O EL DISPOSITIVO ELÉCTRICO.
1. DESCONECTE LA ALIMENTACIÓN del receptáculo en el panel de interruptore
s
general antes de instalarlo.
2. Si la instalación fuera sobre un receptáculo existente, retire la cubierta/junta
actual y deséchela.
3. Seleccione el inserto adecuado a su aplicación y presiónelo dentro de la base.
Si tiene que extraer las tapas de cables del inserto redondo, presiónelas hacia
abajo con unos alicates en la parte trasera hasta que se suelten. Si va a
instalar el inserto redondo, extraiga la tapa del orificio del tamaño correcto
(véase Extracción de tapa de cables).
4. La base se debe situar en una superficie plana y nivelada. Para garantizar la
selladura a prueba de intemperie sobre superficies como el ladrillo o los
rodapiés de madera, es necesario colocar un cordón de 1/4” pulg de pasta de
silicona no endurecedora entre la junta y la superficie de montaje.
5. Monte el conjunto de base/inserto y uno o varios receptáculos dentro de la
caja de empalmes utilizando los dos tornillos largos suministrados. Para
garantizar la selladura a prueba de intemperie, los goznes deben estar
situados hacia arriba mientras que el cable debe estar debajo. Si desea
montar el conjunto en una caja de empalmes en exteriores o en una caja FS,
utilice los tornillos largos restantes para fijar la base/inserto en la caja a
través de los orificios existentes. En el caso de cajas de empalmes con un
diseño especial, habrá que perforar orificios que se alineen con los de esas
cajas.
7. Compruebe que todos los tornillos estén bien apretados, no los apriete en
exceso. Instale los tornillos cortos restantes en el receptáculo como se
requiera.
8. Para abrir la cubierta, doble hacia atrás el enganche de plástico y levántela.
Se proporciona una lengüeta de cierre bloqueable (véase a la derecha).
PARA UNA ÓPTIMA PROTECCIÓN CONTRA LA LLUVIA Y LA HUMEDAD, LOS
CABLES DEBEN CONDUCIRSE A TRAVÉS DE LAS TAPAS EN LA CUBIERTA,
PRESIONANDO ÉSTA FIRMEMENTE HASTA CERRARLA SOBRE LA LENGÜETA.
NO UTILIZAR SI SE HAN EXTRAÍDO LAS TAPAS DE CABLES INCORRECTAS.

If within one (1) year from the date of purchase, this product fails due to a defect in material or workmanship,
Intermatic Incorporated will repair or replace it, at its sole option, free of charge. This warranty is extended to
the original household purchaser only and is not transferable.
This warranty does not apply to: (a) damage to
units caused by accident, dropping or abuse in handling, acts of God or any negligent use; (b) units which have
been subject to unauthorized repair, opened, taken apart or otherwise modified; (c) units not used in accordance

This GUARDIAN weatherproof cover can be used outdoors or in other wet
locations (protects receptacles while in use for unattended applications). The
c
over is UL listed and meets the requirements for all outdoor low voltage
landscape lighting as defined by UL 1838. It also meets UL and CSA Cold Impact
T
esting at -60°F (-51°C), is CSA certified, NEMA 3R rated and meets National
E
lectrical Code requirements covered by Article 406.8(B).

Installation
Follow the steps listed at right while referring to the illustrations below.
CAUTION: IF USING A POWER SCREW-DRIVER, BE CAREFUL NOT TO OVER-
TIGHTEN SCREWS–YOU WILL STRIP THE THREADS ON THE JUNCTION BOX
A
ND/OR ELECTRICAL DEVICE.
1. DISCONNECT POWER to the receptacle at the circuit breaker panel before
installing.
2. If installing on an existing receptacle, remove the existing cover/gasket and
discard
.
3. Select the right insert for the application and press into bass. If you need to
remove the knock-outs on the round insert, grab them from the back with a
pliers and pry down until they break free. If using the round insert, knock
out the appro
priate hole size (see Knockout Removal).

he base should be installed on a smooth, flat surface. To ensure
a weather-
proof seal on surfaces such as brick or cedar siding, a 1/4” bead of non-
hardening silicon caulk should be placed between the gasket and mounting
surface.
5. Mount the base/insert assembly and the receptacle(s) to the junction box
using two of the long screws provided. To ensure weatherproof protection,
the hinges must be located at the top with the cord on the bottom. If mount-
ing to an outdoor junction box or FS box, use the remaining long screws to
further secure the base/insert assembly to the junction box, using the exist-
ing holes. For specially designed boxes, mounting holes should be drilled to
line up with the holes in the box.
7. Be sure all screws are secure but not over-tightened. Install the remaining
short screws into the receptacle as required
8. To open, bend back the plastic latch while lifting the cover. A hasp is
provided for padlocking (see right).
FOR BEST PROTECTION FROM RAIN OR HUMIDITY, BE SURE TO ROUTE THE
CORDS THROUGH THE CORD KNOCKOUTS IN THE COVER AND PRESS THE
COVER FIRMLY UNTIL IT SNAPS CLOSED OVER THE HASP.
DO NOT USE IF INCORRECT CORD KNOCKOUTS ARE REMOVED.
