INTELLITRACK WMS RF V8.1 RF Guide Radio Frequency Components IntelliTrack WMS RF is a real-time radio frequency (RF) warehouse management system, combining real-time RF data collection with a RF terminal, integrated bar code scanning, and SQL database management technologies. The WMS RF application contains four components: • RF Server: The RF Server contains all the application code that encompasses the WMS RF application.

INTELLITRACK WMS RF V8.1 RF Guide Introduction The WMS RF versions integrate the WMS workstation application database with an RF Server application and RF portable devices. Version 8.1 and higher of WMS RF Server enables you to pick and receive orders for your warehouse, enter and adjust inventory, and monitor warehouse transactions from an RF portable device. You are also able to send messages between the portables and the WMS RF Server PC application.
Chapter 2 Device Setup Overview In conjunction with the RF Server, terminal emulation allows your WMS RF application to connect to a portable Windows CE and CE.NET device. Prior to transferring data between the desktop computer and a portable CE or CE.NET device, it is essential to establish the correct CE or CE.NET device portable settings. For complete RF terminal emulation setup, please refer to the IntelliTrack RF Terminal Emulation Guide, which is available at the IntelliTrack website (www.

Modifying the Local Echo Setting The Local Echo setting must also be turned on for the emulation parameters.

Chapter 2 Device Setup Verifying Settings on the TelnetCE Client Important: If you receive a “No Host Connection” message when you open the WaveLink Telnet session on your handheld device, and you are sure the device is connected to the PC, use this section as a troubleshooting tool for verifying your Telnet settings on the handheld.

Make sure the host profile settings match what you entered in the Host Profiles screen in the TelnetCE installation utility on the PC. Chapter 2 Device Setup Configuring the Softogo Wireless Telnet with IntelliTrack RF The IntelliTrack RF application may be used with the Softogo Wireless Telnet Client to work with compatible handheld devices. In order for them to work together properly, you must install and configure Wireless Telnet Client on your PC and then send the configuration to the device. Configuring the Generic Settings The Wireless Telnet Client must be configured for IntelliTrack RF on the PC.

Set the Max setting to 1. To do this, select the Max setting under the SESSIONS folder in the left pane of the window. The Max settings appear in the right pane of the window. In the Max field, enter 1 and then select the Save button. The Max setting in the left pane changes to 1 and the key icon beside it turns green.

To do this, select the KEY_F5 selection in the left pane; the KEY_F5 settings appear in the right pane of the window. 13. Set the KEY_F5 setting to “\1B..O..M” (please note that the O refers to the capital letter O. It is NOT A ZERO). Select the Save button. The setting is changed in the left pane and the icon to the right of it turns green.

On the device, select the key that you want to use for the ESC function and then identify its scan code via the “Keyboard Test” dialog. Select Configuration > Keyboard Test to reach this dialog.

[The VT_SCANCODE setting needs to be configured to \1B for this device key (see “Mapping a Device Key to the ESC Function” on page 49).] 6. Next, select the scan code. The scan code setting appears in the right pane of the window (in this example, the asterisk key is being mapped to the ESC setting).

INTELLITRACK WMS RF V8.1 RF Guide Signing On to the RF Client To sign on to the client: • You must enter a valid WMS User ID and/or password (depending on your security settings in the workstation application) • WMS RF Server must be running Security WMS RF permits user tasks as defined in the WMS Workstation application.
Chapter 3 RF Client • Key: In most cases the key returns to the previous screen, allowing changes to the previous entries. • Key: When displaying a list of items, the key moves to the previous entry. • Key: When displaying a list of items, the key moves to the next entry. • Key: The key returns the RF client to the Main menu. • Key: The key advances the cursor to the next field or cell in a screen.

The settings available include: language, expert mode, start screen preference, wave, zone, and default label printer.
Chapter 3 RF Client The Starting Screen Option The Starting Screen option allows you to jump to a specific menu upon successful login. These include the Main, Inventory, Picking, Receiving, and Shipping Menus. Press to toggle through the options and select the start screen. The default is set at Main menu. The Wave Option The Wave option allows you to select the orders that you want to display during wave picking. The options include Open, Not Staged, or All.

Chapter 3 RF Client RF Windows Client A RF Windows Client simulates an RF portable device on your PC. To open the RF Windows Client, select Start > Programs > IntelliTrack > RF Server > Large Client; or Small Client. Note: In order to open the RF Windows Client, you must disable the LineMode Telnet Support option in the RF Server Options form\Utilities tab. Log • Warehouse Transaction History RFS and DOS/Window Client Monitoring IntelliTrack WMS RF can monitor the activity on a specific portable device.
Chapter 4 Warehouse Management Select a RF client’s form by clicking on the maximize box, double-clicking on the title bar or selecting it from the clients menu. Once the RF client’s form is maximized all monitor capabilities for that client are enabled. When the client window initially opens, it is blank until new activity occurs. Until the operator performs a task after the RF client form is maximized, nothing is visible in the RF client screen area.

Messaging With the Messaging function, the RF Server monitor can send messages to the RF Portable users. This simple messaging system allows RF client operators to communicate with each other or the RF server application. Sending a Message from RF Server To send a message from the RF Server to a portable device, select Control > Messages. The Messages form appears.
Chapter 4 Warehouse Management Select the key to send a message to appear on the server. After entering message, press the key to send. Select the key to send a message to another portable device. 3. If you chose to send a message to a portable, scroll through the list of current operators by pressing the key. Press the key to return to a previously listed operator. 4. Select the operator. Next, enter your message in the Type message field.

At the Control Panel, select Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Application. • Windows Vista/Windows 7: To reach the application event log, go to the Control Panel. At the Control Panel, select System and Maintenance > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Application. You may be prompted for an administrator password or confirmation. If so, enter the password or give confirmation.

Upon successful entry of a valid location the operator is shown the characteristics of each item stored within the specified location. 1. From the Main menu, press the key to open the Inventory menu. 2. From the Inventory menu, press the key to open the Inquire menu. 3. From the Inquire menu, press the key to select Location.

The key advances the operator through the pallet location item list. The key returns to the previous listed item. 7. INTELLITRACK WMS RF V8.1 RF Guide Physical Inventory with the RF Portable IntelliTrack WMS supports physical inventory counts. During the physical count, the operator can verify all the items within a storage location. The system confirms the entered quantity with the location count. If there is a difference, the terminal requests a recount from the operator.

An operator is prompted for the location being adjusted then all relevant information for completing the adjustment. Adjustments made can be positive or negative and the quantity entered is added or subtracted from the on-hand quantity. 78 1. Press the key from the Main menu to reach the Inventory menu. 2. The Inventory menu appears. Press the F6 (Adjust) key.

You are returned to the location/item entry screen (see step 2), and at this point are able to enter another inventory item adjustment (steps 3 through 7). 9. When you are finished with your inventory adjustments, press the key to return to the Main menu. Moving Inventory The Move item function moves an item from one location to another, item by item.

The Replenish function moves material from a storage location to a primary location.

The required quantity is the threshold quantity, which is the quantity that triggers the warning that the location has fallen below an acceptable level. The “Qty” represents the actual quantity currently in the primary location.

If the item number and location match the item number and location entered for this replenishment, the following screen appears. (Otherwise, and a screen with an error message appears, telling you that either the item or location did not match.

Enter the destination location in the Location field. Press to continue. 9. If you entered an incorrect item number or location, a screen appears telling you that the transaction failed. INTELLITRACK WMS RF V8.1 RF Guide Introduction The Receiving Menu on the RF Portable contains four options: inquire order, receive order, auto receive, and put-away. • Inquire Order: displays each order in the system. For each order, the order number, order date, due date, order status, and vendor are displayed. Inquire order also allows you to select the order for processing. See “Inquire Order Option” on page 93.
Chapter 6 Receiving • Put-Away: The Put-Away process is used when the receiving process is divided into two segments: Staging: Receiving orders into a staging area Put Away: Moving received orders from staging into the warehouse. The put-away process moves items from the receiving location to the final storage location. WMS scans an item in a staging location then directs the operator to a storage location, which is determined by the put-away sequence. An operator is presented with the primary location.

Select the key to scroll back through the displayed receiving orders. Select the (Rcv) key to initiate the receiving process on the displayed order. 3. Press the key to return to the Receiving menu.

Chapter 6 Receiving If the Prompt for location option is selected in the Options form/ Receiving tab of the WMS RF Server, you will see a Location field in this screen. Enter the receiving location in the Location field. If the order is being received into a pallet location, enter the pallet ID in the Pallet field. The default receiving location, as set in the Options form/Receiving tab is automatically entered in the Location field. However, a new location can be entered. Press the key.
INTELLITRACK WMS RF V8.1 RF Guide The Receiving menu is displayed after the last received order. If you opted to print receiving labels, they are sent to the default printer at this time. Auto-Receive Order Option The Auto receive or Blind receive function processes receivables that have no receiving order upon arrival. Material can be received to a Receive staging location or can be received to its final location. As the process continues, the order is built and inventory is increased.
Chapter 6 Receiving The first vendor entered in the system is displayed. Select the key to skip vendor selection. Select the key to display the next vendor. Select the key to return to any previously displayed vendor. Select the key to jump to a vendor ID entry field where either the vendor's name or ID can be entered. Next, press the key. The Vendor data is displayed. When the desired vendor is displayed and you are ready to continue, press the key. 2.

When the UOM is selected, press the key to advance to the Qty field. Enter the item quantity and press the key to continue. If the item requires a serial number, you are required to enter a unique serial number for this item. (This screen will appear for each item that is being received.
Chapter 6 Receiving The Receiving location is defaulted to the default receiving location entered in the Options form/Receiving tab for WMS RF Server. A different location can be entered, if applicable. Press the key to advance the cursor to the Pallet field and enter the Pallet ID if items are being received to an existing pallet.
INTELLITRACK WMS RF V8.1 RF Guide Put-Away Option WMS RF Professional supports the put-away function. The Put-away function moves items from the receiving location to the final storage location. IntelliTrack WMS scans an item in a staging location then directs the operator to a storage location. This is determined by the put-away sequence. An operator is presented with the primary choice of location. Once the material is placed in the location, the transaction requests a confirmation.
Chapter 6 Receiving The default “source” site is entered in the Site field. If you want to change the “source” site, enter the desired site in the Site field. The “source” location defaults to the location setting entered in the Receiving location field in the Option form/Receiving tab for the WMS RF Server. If you want to enter another “source” location, enter it in the Location field. 5. Press the key to continue. A screen appears that shows the items in this location.

You are returned to the Item # screen. Here, you have the option to choose another item for put-away. Repeat steps 5–10 until all items have been processed. 12. Press the key to exit to the Receiving menu. 13. Press the key again to return to the Main menu.

The system default site is entered by default (depending on the Options form/General tab settings) in the Site field, and the default location (depending on the Receiving location setting in the Options form/Receiving tab) is entered by default in the Location field. If the order item’s UOM quantity is too high for the required pick, you are able to perform an inventory let down by selecting the key. If you are able to fulfill the order quantity, select the UOM in the UOM field, enter the quantity in the Qty field, and select the key to continue with the pick. (Skip the next step, since you do not have to perform an inventory let down to meet the pick ordered quantity.
Chapter 7 Picking • If the item being picked still requires a let down to the next UOM in order to meet the pick UOM quantity, perform another let down for the item UOM by entering an amount in the Qty field and selecting to reach the Letdown screen. Continue with the let down process until the item/location quantity being picked meets the UOM quantity in the pick order.

If the item or order is incomplete, the operator is prompted for the next pick Press the key to proceed to the next location to pick additional quantities for the order. 12. When the order is complete, the Print Packing List screen appears. If you want to print a packing list for the pick order, select . The screen closes and a packing list for this order is immediately sent to the printer set for packing lists in the RF Client Options menu.

If a wave is selected, press the key. The wave number screen appears. Press to remove the selection. You are returned to the Picking menu. At the Picking menu, the selection should now be Stage order and the Wave selection should be (None). 3. From the Picking menu, select the key.

When you are ready to continue, press . 8. The following screen appears. It displays the item’s unit of measure (UOM) in the UOM field and the UOM item quantity in the Qty field for the location selected. The key advances to the next UOM of the item in the location.

Enter the “destination” location for the staged item in the Location field.

(Note that to print a new pallet/container label, the Print Container Labels option must be set in the RF Server Options form. The default printer is set in the RF Client Options (see “The Printers Option” on page 59.) • Press to continue. 12. The following screen appears.
Chapter 7 Picking Staging a Wave (Batched Orders) To stage by wave, you must be using WMS RF Professional. The Wave function selects a wave number that contains at least one picking order assigned to the logged-in operator. Once the wave has been selected the operator can either pick or stage the wave. Usually, a wave consists of one or more grouped orders. For more information about establishing a wave, please refer to the WMS Workstation User Manual.

For our example, this means that we have selected wave 103 for staging. 5. Press the key to stage the wave. The following screen appears. Each screen lists the item number and the total item quantity for all items in the orders included in the wave. The key advances you through the item list.
Chapter 7 Picking The key advances to the next UOM for the item. The key returns to the previous listed UOM for the item. The key opens the inventory letdown screen for the item. If the order item’s UOM quantity is too high for the required pick, you are able to perform an inventory let down by selecting the key. If you are able to fulfill the order quantity for staging, select the UOM and quantity and then select the key to continue with the pick.

It is a confirmation screen, which asks you to confirm the “destination” item number and location for the staged item. Enter the item number in the Item # field and the location in the Location field. Press the key to continue. 13. If you enter the correct item number and location, the stage order will process and you will be returned to the item screen for the items contained in this wave.

At this screen, you are able to select a wave. • The key advances you through the waves in the system for the selected site. • The key returns you to the previous wave. • The key removes a wave that is currently displayed on the Picking menu.

INTELLITRACK WMS RF V8.1 RF Guide Ship Confirm Staged Orders The Ship Confirm function confirms the shipment of material against an item, a picking order, or a wave. This function is used to process staged orders from portable locations like Totes. The operator identifies the location containing the inventory being shipped. Then the operator scans or enters all pertinent information to complete the ship confirmation. From the Main menu, select the (Shipping) key. The WMS Shipping menu appears.
Chapter 7 Picking Ship By Item • To print a packing list to the default printer for a closed pick order, select F5 (for more information about selecting the packing list printer, see “The Printers Option” on page 59). 1. From the Shipping Menu, select the (Ship By Item) key. The following screen appears. Enter the location for the shipment in the Location field. (If you are picking by zone, the locations are restricted to the zone locations.
