The Package Track Batch application must be run locally from each batch portable device that is using it. Use the Batch application to collect data remotely with a batch portable device. IntelliTrack applications use Remote Data Access (RDA) for workstation-batch communication. RDA encompasses many components and involves system setup.

The batch application data is integrated into the workstation application. You must have the IntelliTrack workstation application installed on your system before you install the batch application on the device.

In the first RDA setup example below, all RDA components are installed on one local computer. This is the most straightforward setup option. Notice that IIS and SQL Server are installed on one local computer, hence, this RDA setup supports automatic IIS setup with the IntelliTrack Create IIS Dependencies Utility.

Installing Microsoft ActiveSync on your Desktop Computer • Windows XP/Windows Server 2003: uses Microsoft ActiveSync for PC-handheld device communication.

The Connection Settings window appears. • In the Connection Settings window, make sure the Open ActiveSync when my device connects check box is marked. • Click the drop-down arrow in the This computer is connected to field and select Work Network from the list that appears.

In order for IntelliTrack batch data syncing to take place when you use a firewall, the following must be set as exceptions: • IntelliTrack License Service Port: 15313 is the default port setting that IntelliTrack uses; Protocol: TCP.

Sync URL Setting The Sync URL setting is the network path to the remote server/IIS location. It is listed in the Preferences portion of the DMS Batch Synchronization Utility. You must enter the correct Sync URL setting (the network path to the IIS server location) in the DMS Batch Synchronization Utility. The setting depends upon your Remote Data Access configuration.

This example shows the Sync URL setting when IIS is placed on the local computer along with the IntelliTrack workstation application, ActiveSync or WMDC, and SQL Express or SQL Server and IIS Dependencies Utility was used to configure IIS and SQL Server/SQL Express permissions. The Sync URL setting is listed in the Sync URL portion of the form. The Sync URL setting is the network path to the remote server/IIS location.

To download your device installer from the IntelliTrack Hardware Support Matrix: open your Internet browser and go to the following address: www.intellitrack.net. The IntelliTrack website Home page appears.

Once you have setup Remote Data Access, verified that your IIS dependencies are setup and functioning properly, and downloaded your device installation setup file you are ready to install the batch application on the portable device.

The handheld application contains four components: Package Track CE Client: The Batch Portable application, which is sent to the portable device. .NET Compact Framework: the .NET Framework is device dependent. If you want to return to any previous window in the setup wizard, click the Back button. 9. The components will begin installing to the device. As each component is installed, a prompt appears in the Batch Synchronization Utility: Click Yes to begin installing the component to the handheld device.

The license service is installed with your product and runs automatically. You must register and activate your software to use the fully licensed version of your DMS software. Please have your product serial number available when you register and activate DMS.

The Package Track Workstation Application is used to interface with and maintain the Database; it is installed on a desktop computer. 2. Chapter 4 System Options Strong Password Requirements The default IntelliTrack password for SQL 2008 login is IntelliTrack#2008. It is a strong password. A strong password is required for SQL Server login. A strong password meets the following requirements: Testing the Database Connection via the UDL File 1. Go to the Package Track program folder. By default it is installed on C:\Program Files\IntelliTrack\DMS\Package Track\8.1. Locate the DATA.UDL file. 2. Select the DATA.UDL file and then double-click it.

The Data Link Properties screen shows the database information that is currently stored by the application, including the server name, server logon information (username and password), and the database name on the server. Generally, this information is set during product installation.

This means that the application can find the database and connect to it; and when you open Package Track, the information found in this database will be included in the application forms, history, and reports. 6. If the test connection fails, it is usually because the database cannot be located or the server name or logon information is wrong.

Connecting to the Database with SQL Server Management Studio SQL Server or SQL Express is an application that manages and runs your IntelliTrack database.

If all necessary information is entered correctly, including server type (Database Engine), server name (name of your IntelliTrack server/instance), authentication (logon method), username and password, you will be able to connect to your IntelliTrack database engine when you click the Connect button.
INTELLITRACK DMS: PACKAGE TRACK V8.1 User Manual Database Backup and Restore Your Package Track application is a client server system using SQL Express or SQL Server to handle the database and Microsoft Access to handle much of the application. It is good practice to regularly back up your database. We recommend backing up the database every day. Use SQL Server or an IntelliTrack Utility to backup your data: • If you have the full version of SQL Server, this process is provided for by SQL Server.
Chapter 4 System Options Viewing or Changing the Database Connection Setting The Data Link Properties form is reached from the Options window. 1. Click the Options button in the Package Track Setup window to reach the Options window. 2. In the Database portion of the Options window, click the Change Database button. The Data Link Properties window appears. It contains information about the database connection.

INTELLITRACK DMS: PACKAGE TRACK V8.1 User Manual The Security section in the Options window contains the following options: • Show Login on Desktop: Check this box if you want to force a login at the start up of Package Track on your Package Track Workstation Application. • Require Password on Desktop: This selection becomes enabled if you check the Show Login on Desktop check box. Check this box to require users to also enter their password during a log in to Package Track on the Desktop Computer.

INTELLITRACK DMS: PACKAGE TRACK V8.1 User Manual Introduction Package Track catalogs package information so that you are able to track the package activity at your facility through the receipt and delivery process. Thus, the application will track the Package Track user who received the package into the system; the intended package recipient; the delivery carrier; the mailroom location of the package; and the package type. This package information comprises the package record.
Chapter 5 Data Entry Recipients Recipients in Package Track represent the final package destination. Hence, a recipient may be a single person, or a department within your organization. Recipients are added and edited from the Recipients window. To reach the Recipients list window, click the Recipients button in the System Info section of the Setup area of the main window. —or— Click Configuration > Recipients from the menu bar. The Recipients list window appears.

Mailrooms A mailroom in Package Track represents the site where incoming and outgoing mail is handled for your organization. By default, Package Track contains one mailroom entry. During setup, you are able to define your default mailroom, and add additional mailrooms. To reach the Mailroom information, click Configuration > Lookup Tables > Mailrooms in the menu bar.

Carriers In Package Track, a carrier delivers packages to your facility. By default, Package Track contains eight carriers. You are able to add and edit carriers, as well as Tracking Number(s) for the carrier from the Carriers window. To reach the carrier information: Click Configuration > Lookup Tables > Carriers in the menu bar.

If the package bar code is scanned, Package Track uses the bar code data to determine the package tracking number and in turn, associates the tracking number with the package record.

The windows displays: • The total bar code character length contained within the package bar code is displayed in the Length field. • The starting character position for the tracking number within the package bar code is displayed in the Start field. • The ending character position for the tracking number within the package bar code is displayed in the End field.

Email notifications are configured in the Notifications area of the main window. To reach the notifications area of Package Track, click Notifications in the Navigation Menu of the main window; or, click Configuration > Notifications from the menu bar. The Notifications area of the main window appears.
Chapter 6 Notifications Setting Up Email Notification Server Settings Email notification in Package Track is initiated in the Package Track application. Depending on your settings, Package Track will automatically send an email notification for any recipient designated to receive email notification when a package is received into the system for the recipient. Package Track will trigger the email based on the last email that was sent.

You will find two types of reports in Package Track: standard and custom. Report Preview, Print, and Export Options • Standard Reports: A Package Track standard report cannot be modified. • Custom Reports: A Package Track custom report can be modified. Also, you can add a new custom report to the application.

Note: The following sections assume that you are using an integrated bar code scanner or an add-on scanner with your handheld device. Package Track integrates with a handheld device that uses an integrated scanner or an add-on scanner. By using a handheld with an integrated scanner or an add-on scanner, you are able to: 1.

Scanning is generally activated by a button on the handheld device. • Add-on: Scanner is a third party device that connects to the device via an expansion slot. Chapter 9 Using the Handheld Transferring Data from the Device via the Wireless Batch Connection You are able to transfer data from the device via the wireless batch connection. However, before using wireless batch, you must use an ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center connection to send the sync config files to the Handheld application from the Batch Synchronization Utility.

Use the Sync menu options in the handheld application to send data to the PC and receive data from the PC. Data synchronization with Package Track occurs via the wireless connection to the PC.

If your application is not registered, you cannot upload data from the handheld application to the workstation application.
