The Package Track Batch Portable Application is designed to be used when packages arrive at your facility.

The Package Track Batch application must be run locally from each batch portable device that is using it. Use the Batch application to collect data remotely with a batch portable device. IntelliTrack applications use Remote Data Access (RDA) for workstation-batch communication. RDA encompasses many components and involves system setup.

Chapter 2 CE Batch Installation Batch Installation Prerequisites for Windows Server 2008 If you are using Windows Server 2008, follow these basic steps for batch installation preparation. 1. Familiarize yourself with the RDA components. Please refer to “Remote Data Access (RDA) Components” on page 15 for more information. 2. Determine your RDA configuration. Please refer to “RDA Configuration” on page 18 for more information. 3. Make sure that IIS is installed and operational.

Chapter 2 CE Batch Installation Setting up IIS v6.0 to Allow the DMS Web Service Extension If you are using IIS v6.0 and Windows Server 2003, you must enable the web service extensions to allow the DMS Sync URL dll to run. Important:If you do not enable the DMS web extension in IIS v6.0, you cannot synchronize the Package Track v8.1 workstation and batch portable application databases. 1. From the Control Panel options, select Administrative Tools. 2.

Browse to the network location of the sqlcesa35.dll file and select it. It appears in the Find field. Click the Open button to close the Open window and place the file location in the Required files portion of the window.

The batch application data is integrated into the workstation application. You must have the IntelliTrack workstation application installed on your system before you install the batch application on the device.

You must manually configure IIS. Manual IIS setup involves advanced knowledge of IIS and advanced network administration knowledge. For more information about manual IIS setup, please see “Manual IIS RDA Setup Options” on page 23.

Automatic IIS Setup • sqlcesa35.dll: the resource dll for the application’s use of IIS. • Permissions: security rights to write and use the IIS account with your IntelliTrack application.

Chapter 2 CE Batch Installation • Since IIS and SQL Server reside on the same computer, the Create IIS Dependencies Utility may be used to configure IIS and SQL Server permissions. In the first RDA setup example below, all RDA components are installed on one local computer. This is the most straightforward setup option. Notice that IIS and SQL Server are installed on one local computer, hence, this RDA setup supports automatic IIS setup with the IntelliTrack Create IIS Dependencies Utility.

Chapter 2 CE Batch Installation RDA Configuration for Manual IIS Setup When IIS and SQL Server do not reside on the same computer in your setup, the IntelliTrack Create IIS Dependencies Utility cannot be used to configure IIS for IntelliTrack CE Batch communication. You must manually configure it. For manual IIS configuration setup procedures, please see “Manual IIS Setup” on page 251. To see manual IIS RDA setup examples, please see the next section, “Manual IIS RDA Setup Options” on page 23.

Chapter 2 CE Batch Installation PC and Handheld Device Communication Depending on your operating system, you will use either Microsoft ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center Software for PC-handheld device communication. Installing Microsoft ActiveSync on your Desktop Computer • Windows XP/Windows Server 2003: uses Microsoft ActiveSync for PC-handheld device communication.

The Connection Settings window appears. • In the Connection Settings window, make sure the Open ActiveSync when my device connects check box is marked. • Click the drop-down arrow in the This computer is connected to field and select Work Network from the list that appears.

We recommend that you become familiar with the ActiveSync software and your handheld device before continuing.

The Add Features Wizard appears; Click Install to install it. The computer will restart after the Desktop Experience is installed.

Chapter 2 CE Batch Installation This section applies to computers that use an installed firewall or the Windows firewall. In order for IntelliTrack batch data syncing to take place when you use a firewall, the following must be set as exceptions: • IntelliTrack License Service Port: 15313 is the default port setting that IntelliTrack uses; Protocol: TCP.

Sync URL Setting The Sync URL setting is the network path to the remote server/IIS location. It is listed in the Preferences portion of the DMS Batch Synchronization Utility. You must enter the correct Sync URL setting (the network path to the IIS server location) in the DMS Batch Synchronization Utility. The setting depends upon your Remote Data Access configuration.

This example shows the Sync URL setting when IIS is placed on the local computer along with the IntelliTrack workstation application, ActiveSync or WMDC, and SQL Express or SQL Server and IIS Dependencies Utility was used to configure IIS and SQL Server/SQL Express permissions. The Sync URL setting is listed in the Sync URL portion of the form. The Sync URL setting is the network path to the remote server/IIS location.

To download your device installer from the IntelliTrack Hardware Support Matrix: open your Internet browser and go to the following address: www.intellitrack.net. The IntelliTrack website Home page appears.

Chapter 2 CE Batch Installation Installing Package Track on the Handheld Device Before you can begin transferring Package Track data from your handheld device, you must install the Package Track application on your handheld device. Once you have setup Remote Data Access, verified that your IIS dependencies are setup and functioning properly, and downloaded your device installation setup file you are ready to install the batch application on the portable device.

The handheld application contains four components: Package Track CE Client: The Batch Portable application, which is sent to the portable device. .NET Compact Framework: the .NET Framework is device dependent. If you want to return to any previous window in the setup wizard, click the Back button. 9. The components will begin installing to the device. As each component is installed, a prompt appears in the Batch Synchronization Utility: Click Yes to begin installing the component to the handheld device.

To open the Package Track Batch Portable application in DEMO mode, click the drop-down menu in the Username field, select a sample username, and tap the Login button. (The Batch Portable Application contains sample data.) 4.

Once you enter a unique handheld identifier, select ok or the Windows Close icon (X) to close the screen and set the Package Track handheld identifier for this portable. The Main screen appears. 6. If you have not registered your IntelliTrack software, the application opens in DEMO mode.

The license service is installed with your product and runs automatically. You must register and activate your software to use the fully licensed version of your DMS software. Please have your product serial number available when you register and activate DMS.

The Package Track Workstation Application is used to interface with and maintain the Database; it is installed on a desktop computer. 2. The Package Track Batch Portable Application is used to receive and deliver packages; it is installed on a handheld device with an integrated scanner.

This menu is located along the left side of the main window.

In this example, the Reports area has been selected. Using the Menu Bar You may also navigate within Package Track from the menu bar. The menu bar resides underneath the Title Bar, and contains five menus: File, Configuration, Reports, Maintenance, and Help.

From the Configuration menu selections, choose Options; the Options window appears: Entering Information You are able to add, edit, and delete system information such as users, recipients, mailrooms, carriers, package locations, and package types. For more information about entering information in Package Track, refer to “Data Entry” on page 73. System Options Before you enter information, it is a good idea to set your system options.

Options include online help, an electronic User’s Manual, product registration, licensing and version information. To reach the Help menu options, click Help in the main menu. For more information about the options available in Package Track, please refer to “Setting System Options” on page 58, “Setting Security” on page 61, and “Technical Support Settings” on page 62.

Chapter 4 System Options Strong Password Requirements The default IntelliTrack password for SQL 2008 login is IntelliTrack#2008. It is a strong password. A strong password is required for SQL Server login. A strong password meets the following requirements: Testing the Database Connection via the UDL File 1. Can’t contain the account name or part of the account name in it. 2. Must be at least 8 characters long. 3.

Go to the Package Track program folder. By default it is installed on C:\Program Files\IntelliTrack\DMS\Package Track\8.1. Locate the DATA.UDL file. 2. Select the DATA.UDL file and then double-click it.

The Data Link Properties screen shows the database information that is currently stored by the application, including the server name, server logon information (username and password), and the database name on the server. Generally, this information is set during product installation.

Thus, the application will track the Package Track user who received the package into the system; the intended package recipient; the delivery carrier; the mailroom location of the package; and the package type. Appendix D Checking IIS Setup Upon startup, the Send Data portion of the Utility is to the front. Sync URL Setting The Sync URL setting is the network path to the remote server/IIS location. It is listed in the Preferences portion of the DMS Batch Synchronization Utility. You must enter the correct Sync URL setting (the network path to the IIS server location) in the DMS Batch Synchronization Utility. The setting depends upon your Remote Data Access configuration.

This example shows the Sync URL setting when IIS is placed on the local computer along with the IntelliTrack workstation application, ActiveSync or WMDC, and SQL Express or SQL Server and IIS Dependencies Utility was used to configure IIS and SQL Server/SQL Express permissions. The Sync URL setting is listed in the Sync URL portion of the form.

It is used as a means to identify a delivery carrier in Package Track, and link the received package to this carrier.
