4. Since IIS and SQL Server reside on different computers, the Create IIS
Dependencies Utility cannot be used to configure IIS and SQL Server
permissions; they must be manually configured. Please refer to
“Manu-
ally Configuring IIS on Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 Operating
Systems” on page 447 or “Manually Configuring IIS on Windows Vista /
Windows 7/ Windows Server 2008 Operating Systems” on page 450 for
more information.
5. Set the Sync URL setting in the Batch Synchronization Utility to:
http://{IIS Computer name}/sqlcesa35.dll. For more
information about the Sync URL setting in the Batch Synchronization
Utility, please refer to
“Sync URL Setting” on page 465.
PC and Handheld Device Communication
Depending on your operating system, you will use either Microsoft Active-
Sync or Windows Mobile Device Center Software for PC-handheld device
communication.
• Windows XP/Windows Server 2003: uses Microsoft ActiveSync for
PC-handheld device communication. For more information about
installing and setting up Microsoft ActiveSync, please refer to
“Install-
ing Microsoft ActiveSync on your Desktop Computer” on page 27, “Work
Network Communication Setting” on page 28, and “Setting Up a Sync
Relationship” on page 29.
• Windows Vista/Windows 7/Windows Server 2008: uses Windows
Mobile Device Center software for PC-handheld device communica-
tion. For more information about using Windows Mobile Device Cen-
ter software, please refer to
“Using Mobile Device Center Software” on
page 29 and “Setting Up a Windows Mobile Partnership” on page 30.
Installing
Microsoft
ActiveSync on
your Desktop
Computer
Microsoft ActiveSync needs to be installed on your system according to
the RDA setup option that you have chosen. Microsoft ActiveSync is
always installed on the same PC as the IntelliTrack workstation applica-
tion.
The Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 operating system use
Microsoft ActiveSync for PC-device communication. If you are using
