Introduction
MS Access is a powerful and flexible database management system. A full
version of MS Access 2007 provides additional capabilities. A full version
of Access allows you to modify existing database objects, create new
forms and reports, and interface directly with other database systems.
Important: This chapter assumes that you have a full version of Microsoft
Access 2007 installed on your computer. If you do not have a full version of
Microsoft Access installed on your computer, the information in this chap-
ter does not apply to you. This chapter also assumes that you have experi-
ence importing data using Access Tools; if you do not, you should review
importing in the MS Access documentation.
Full Access Import
If a full version of Microsoft Access is installed on your computer and you
are familiar with importing data directly into Access tables, you can import
any existing inventory data into a Check In-Out database without redefin-
ing detailed item information manually, including the site, location, and
quantities on hand.
To maintain data integrity, existing inventory must be imported into the
Check In-Out system in a specific order. The following tables are imported
in the order shown below:
1. Sites
2. Bin Location
3. Inventory
4. TblCheck
5. Inventory by Location
This appendix specifies field order and criteria for tables in
Data Struc-
ture” on page 373. Before importing data, review the data structures of the
five tables listed above in
Data Structure” on page 373. If the import data
does not match the order and defined criteria, modify the export tables or
build a custom Access query to place the information in the appropriate
IntelliTrack table and fields.
