Creating a recovery drive
A recovery drive can help you troubleshoot and x problems with your PC, even if it won’t
start. To create one, all you need is a USB ash drive. Windows will inform you of the
size of the USB ash drive needed to hold th e required data.
1. From the taskbar, search for Create a recovery drive and then select it. You may be
asked to enter an administrator password or conrm your selection.
2. When the tool opens, make sure Backup system les to the recovery drive
is selected and then select Next.
3. Connect a USB drive to your PC, select it, and then se lect Next - Create. A large number of
les need to be copied to the reco very drive, so this could take some time.
4. When it’s done, select Finish.
Note:
If you chose not to b a ck up the system les when you created your recovery drive on
Windows 10, you won’t be able to use it to reinstall Wind ows.

Restore fr
om a system restore p oint
This opti
on takes your PC back to an earlier point in time, called a system restore p oint. Restore
points ar
e generated when you install a new a pp, driver, or Windows update, and when you
create a r
estore point manually. Re storing won’t affect your personal les, but it will remove
apps, dr
ivers, and updates installed after the restore point was made.
1. Right-c
lick on the start key and select File Explorer.
2. Press the keys

Up arrow
.
3. Select
Control Panel.
4. Search Control Panel for Recovery.
5. Selec
t Recovery - Open System Restore - Next .
6. Choose the restore point related to the problematic app, d river, or upda te,
and then select Next - Finish.
Note
: If you don’t see any restore points, it could be because the system protection isn’t turned
on.
To check, go to the Control Panel,searchforRecovery, and then select R ecovery - Congure
Sys
tem Restore - Congure and make sure that Turn On System Protection is selecte d.
