Securityfunctions
Your notebook has a variety of security functions that you can use to protect your
system and your personal data from unauthorized access.
This chapter explains how to use th ese functions, and what the benefits are.
Please remember that in some cases, for example, forgetting your passw ord,
you may be locked out of the system and u nable to access your data.
Therefore, please note the f ollowing information:
• Make regular backups to external optical disks such as external hard
drives, CDs, DVDs or Blu-ray Discs.
• Some security functio

If you forget your passwords you will need to contact our Service Desk.
Deletion or resetting of passwords are not covered by your warranty
and a charge will be made for assistance.
Configuring the fingerprint sensor
Fingerprintsens orFingerprintsensor
Whether your device has a fingerp rint sensor or not depend s on the
device confi guration which you ordered.
Once purchased, your configuration cannot be changed to include the
fingerprint sensor. Also, only the fingerprint sensor or palm vein sensor
can be installed when configured, not both.
The fingerprint sensor can record the image of a fingerprint. With addition al fingerprint
software, this image can be processed and used instead of a password.
