Working with the notebook
Key Description
Insert key
With the
Insert
key, you change between two input modes:
1. Typeover mode: when typing, you overwrite the character at the current
cursor position.
2. Insert mode: when typing, another character is inserted at th e curren t
cursor position. All characters to the right of the cursor are moved one
position further.
Delete key
With the
Delete
key, the character to the right of the cursor is deleted.
Hot keys and function keys
The upper key row on the keyboard is labeled with hot key and function key icons:

Hot keys
Hotkeys
The symbols on the top of the keys represent hot keys.
The hot keys are used to turn on/off and control n o tebook functions (such as speakers,
microphone, volume, and brightness). Hot keys are comfort functions.
The hot keys can be activated as the primary key function when W indows
starts (see Chapter "
F-Lock setting", Page 26).
