6. Reinstall and reconnect any parts you removed or disconnected to reach the
processor sockets.
7. Install the server system cover. For instructions, see “Installing the Server System
Cover”.
Installing and Removing a Hard Drive
(SR1630GPRX)
Caution: The hard drives are NOT hot-swappable. Before removing or replacing a hard drive, you
must first take the server out of service, turn off all peripheral devices connected to the
system, turn off the system by pressing the power button, and unplug the AC power cord
from the system or wall outlet.
You can install up to two SATA drives. The HDD0 drive bay is at the left side of the
chassis, underneath the optional CD-ROM drive. The HDD1 drive bay is at the right side
of the chassis. You do not need to install the drives in order; you can install HDD1 before
HDD0.
Note: The server system does not support all hard drives. See “Server System References” for
an Internet link to a list of supported hardware.
Installing a Hard Disk Drive (SR1630GPRX)
Note: If you are replacing a hard drive, see “Removing a Hard Disk Drive (SR1630GPRX)” on
page 48 for instructions first. Return to these steps when directed.
1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See “Safety
Information”.
2. Power down the server. Unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.
3. Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Server
System Cover”.
4. Locate the drive position you want to use.
5. HDD1 location only: Slide the power cables from the cable clip located on the top
of the hard drive carrier.
6. Remove the screw that holds the hard drive bracket to the chassis. See letter “A” in
Figure 29. Save this screw. You will use it to reinstall the drive assembly later.
7. Lift the drive carrier from the chassis. See letter “B” in Figure 29.
