Installing the Processor

To install a processor, follow these instructions:

1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See “Safety

Information”.

2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.

3. Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Server

System Cover”.

4. Locate the processor socket and raise the socket handle completely. See Figure 23.

5. Push the rear tab with your finger to slightly lift the front of the load plate. Raise the

load plate completely. Raise the CPU load plate (see Figure 24).
