Installing and Removing the RAID Battery Backup Unit
(Active Systems Only)
Installing the RAID Battery Backup Unit (BBU)
To install the RAID battery backup unit, follow these steps:
1. Remove the PCI riser assembly. For instructions, see “Removing the PCI Riser
Assembly” on page 50.
2. Remove the processor air duct. For instructions, see “Removing the Processor Air
Duct” on page 56.
3. Remove the large air baffle. For instructions, see “Removing the Large Air Baffle”
on page 70.
4. Open the RAID battery backup unit cover (see letter “A” in Figure 107) and
connect the cable as shown (see letter “B” in Figure 107).
5. Close and latch the battery backup unit cover.
6. Insert the RAID battery backup unit into the server system making sure the hooks
on the underside of the RAID BBU aligns with the matching chassis tabs and slide
towards the power supply until it locks into place (see letter “C” in Figure 107).
7. Connect the cable from the rear of the RAID battery backup unit to the midplane
board (see letter “D” in Figure 107).
