Installing PCI Add-in Cards

NOTE
Before installing any PCI add-in boards, you may want to install an operating system.
1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions listed in Appendix A, “Safety Information”.
2. Power down the workstation and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.
3. Remove the left side cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Left Side Cover”.
4. Open the back panel PCI Add-in Card Retention Device by pressing open from the inside of the chassis.

5. If it is already not removed, remove the PCI slot shield by pushing the shield out from the inside of the
chassis.

6. Remove a PCI add-in board from its protective wrapper. Be careful not to touch the components or gold-
edge connectors. Place the board on an anti-static surface. Record the type and serial number of the add-in
