3. Functional Architecture
The architecture and design of the Intel
®
Server Board S5400SF is based on the Intel
®
5400
Chipset. The chipset is designed for systems using the Intel
®
Xeon
®
processor 5000 sequence
with front-side bus speeds of 1066 MHz, 1333 MHz, or 1600 MHz. The chipset is made up of
two main components: the Intel
®
5400 Memory Controller Hub Chipset (Intel
®
5400 MCH
Chipset) for the host bridge and the Intel
®
6321ESB I/O Controller Hub for the I/O subsystem.
