3. Firmware Functional Specification
The Intel
®
Local Control Panel contains a processor complex that consists of a Silicon Labs*
F023 microcontroller, with support circuitry. This provides the intelligence for both user and
IPMB interfaces. It utilizes the Internal Intelligent Platform Management Bus (IPMB) to
communicate with the Intel
®
Management Module and uses IPMB address 0x22. The Intel
®
Local Control Panel firmware does not detect IPMB address conflicts and does not support
multiple IPMB addresses. Therefore, other IPMB devices should not use IPMB address 0x22.
The IPMB is routed to the server board and to the SCSI backplane, if applicable. The diagram
below shows the typical management bus routing.
