10. Install the server system cover. For instructions, see “Installing the Server System
Cover” on page 29.
11. Plug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable into the server.
Installing a PCIe* Riser Card
1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this book. See “Safety
Information” on page iii.
2. Power down the server and unplug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable.
3. Remove the server system cover. For instructions, see “Removing the Server
System Cover” on page 28.
4. Disconnect any cables attached to any add-in cards.
5. Remove the PCIe* Riser assembly. For instructions, see “Removing the PCIe*
Riser Assembly” on page 52.
6. Remove any add-in cards from the PCIe* Riser connector. For instructions, see
“Removing a PCI Add-in Card” on page 57.
7. Use two screws to attach the riser card to the riser assembly. See Figure 33.

8. Install an PCI add-in card if desired. For instructions, see “Installing a PCI Add-in
Card” on page 56.
9. Install the PCIe* Riser assembly into the server system. For instructions, see
“Installing the PCIe* Riser Assembly” on page 53.
10. Connect any cables to add-in cards that require them. See your add-in card
documentation for information and add-in card requirements.
11. Re-install the processor air duct. For instructions, see “Installing the Processor Air
Duct” on page 31.
12. Install the server system cover. For instructions, see “Installing the Server System
Cover” on page 29.
13. Plug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable into the server.
