and enterprise systems. The following information will help you assemble your Intel®

RAID Controller and install components.

Perform all installation work at an electrostatic discharge (ESD)-safe workstation that

meets the requirements of EIA-625, Requirements for Handling Electrostatic

Discharge Sensitive Devices. You must perform all actions in accordance to the latest

revision of the IPC-A-610 ESD-recommended practices.

Product Overview The Intel® RAID Controller RS3SC008 is a PCI-Express* (PCIe*) 3.0, low-profile controller with RAID control capability, based on the LSISAS3108 RAID On-a-Chip (ROC) device. The Intel® RAID Controller RS3SC008 uses 1 GB of DDR3 1866-MHz memory and controls eight external Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) / Serial Advanced Technology Attachment (SATA) ports through two SFF-8644 mini-SAS HD-4e external connectors.

General Installation Process 1 2 Unpack the RAID Controller Prepare the Host Computer CAUTION: It is good practice to back up your data before adding hardware, such as a RAID controller, to your system. CAUTION: Before you install the RAID controller, make sure that the host computer is disconnected from the power and from any networks. Unpack the RAID controller in a static-free environment. Remove the controller from the antistatic bag, and inspect it for damage.

General Installation Process 6 7 Power up the System Reinstall the computer cover, and reconnect the power cords. Turn on the power to the host computer. Make sure that the power is turned on to the SAS devices and the SATA III devices before or at the same time that the power to the host computer is turned on. If the power is turned on to the host computer before it is turned on to the devices, the host computer might not recognize the devices.
