2.6.1 Safety Characteristics
The Intel
®
RAID Controller RS2WC080 and RS2WC040 meet or exceed the requirements of UL
flammability rating 94 V0. Each bare board is also marked with the supplier name or trademark,
type, and UL flammability rating. For the boards installed in a PCI Express* bus slot, all voltages
are lower than the SELV 42.4V limit.
The board is designed and implemented to minimize electromagnetic emissions, susceptibility,
and the effects of electrostatic discharge. All testing and verification of these characteristics are
done at the parent or end-unit level.
2.7 Supported Device Technology
The various device technologies supported by the Intel
®
RAID Controller RS2WC080 and
RS2WC040 are described in the subsections that follow.
2.7.1 Support for Hard Disk Drive Devices
The Intel
®
RAID Controller RS2WC080 integrates eight internal high-performance SAS/SATA II
ports that support SAS and the Intel
®
RAID Controller RS2WC040 integrates four internal high-
performance SAS/SATA II ports that support SAS and enterprise-class SATA hard drives. Each
port supports both SAS and SATA devices using the SAS Serial SCSI Protocol (SSP), Serial
Management Protocol (SMP), and Serial Tunneling Protocol (STP). The SSP protocol enables
