Product Descriptions – Overview
Intel

6Gb RAID Products. Including RAID controllers, modules, and expanders. Customer orders an RAID
solution validated across Intel
®
Server Product line and perhaps a cable (see details below).
Intel’s 6Gb/s SAS RAID cards have product names per the convention RS2XX##^ where:
• R = RAID (RM is used for RAID Modules and RE is used for RAID Expanders)
• S = SAS (“T” is used for SATA)
• 2 = specification generation (25 is the second generation of SAS 2 products)
• XX = two letters representing the Intel code name (For example, DB = Delray Beach)
• ## = internal port count
• ^ = external port count
SAS/SATA cables are included in RS2 family products. However, cables are not included in RS25, RMS25, or
RMT3 generation products. For these products, Intel has made two accessory SKUs available.
SAS expanders may be shipped with cables depending on the SKU. Check below for details on cable inclusion
information. Cables shipped with these products may not support every chassis/backplane configuration.
Customers need to verify the type of cable needed. If the product is not shipped with the correct cable, customers
can source a third-party cable or order the correct Intel cable kit. Check the Intel website or contact local Intel sales
representative for additional information.
Batteries and Maintenance Free Backup Units are shipped as a kit which includes required cables and a retention
bracket for remote mounting in an Intel chassis.
