Intel® RAID SSD Cache Controller RCS25ZB040/RCS25ZB040LX User Guide 1
1 Overview of Intel
®
RAID SSD Cache
Controller
RCS25ZB040/RCS25ZB040LX
This document is the primary reference and users guide for the Intel
®
RAID SSD Cache
Controller RCS25ZB040/RCS25ZB040LX based on the Intel
®
6Gb/s SAS/SATA RAID
On-a-Chip device. This document contains complete installation instructions for the
Intel
®
RAID SSD Cache Controller RCS25ZB040/RCS25ZB040LX and includes the
product specifications.
The Intel
®
RAID SSD Cache Controller RCS25ZB040/RCS25ZB040LX is a
combination of Intel
®
proven MegaRAID controller technology coupled with built-in
Flash modules to be used as data cache devices with the help of Intel
®
SSD Cache 2.0
software. The Intel
®
RAID SSD Cache Controller RCS25ZB040/RCS25ZB040LX is a
direct-attached storage (DAS) device designed to accelerate application storage
performance by using intelligent caching from SSD Flash modules directly attached to the
RAID controller. The Intel
®
RAID SSD Cache Controller
RCS25ZB040/RCS25ZB040LX increases the storage performance up to 30x, but retains
the current investment in DAS. Using intelligent caching algorithms to help identify
application hot data, the frequently accessed data is stored and accessed from Flash,
enabling the lowest possible latency. The following figure illustrates the flow of data on
the Intel
®
RAID SSD Cache Controller RCS25ZB040/RCS25ZB040LX.
