5400 Chipset

The Intel 5400 chipset consists of the following devices:

• Intel 5400 Memory Controller Hub (MCH)

• Intel 6321ESB I/O Controller Hub (ESB2-E)

The MCH component provides interfaces to the processor, memory, and PCI Express.

The ESB2-E is a centralized controller for the board’s I/O paths.

1.6.1 USB

The board supports up to ten USB 2.0 ports, supports UHCI and EHCI, and uses UHCI-

and EHCI-compatible drivers.

The ESB2-E provides the USB controller for all ports. The port arrangement is as

follows:

• Six ports are implemented with dual stacked back panel connectors adjacent to the

audio connectors.

• Four ports are routed to two separate front panel USB headers via an onboard USB

hub.
