Note:Thiserrorindicatesthattheoperatingsystemorapplicationscannotcreate,modify,ordeletedata
inthenon-volatilesystemUEFIvariablestorageduetoinsufficientstoragespaceafterPOST.
Thenon-volatilesystemUEFIvariablestorageisusedbytheUEFIBIOSandbytheoperatingsystemor
applications.Thiserroroccurswhentheoperatingsystemorapplicationsstorelargeamountsofdata
inthevariablestorage.AlldataneededforPOST,suchasBIOSsetupsettings,chipsetorplatform
configurationdata,arestoredinaseparateUEFIvariablestorage.
Solution:EnterThinkPadTabletSetupaftertheerrormessageisdisplayed.Adialogaskstheuserfor
confirmationtocleanupthestorage.Iftheuserselects“Yes”,alldatathatwerecreatedbytheoperating
systemorapplicationsaredeletedexceptglobalvariablesdefinedbytheUnifiedExtensibleFirmware
InterfaceSpecification.Iftheuserselects“No”,alldataiskept,buttheoperatingsystemorapplications
willnotbeabletocreate,modify,ordeletedatainthestorage.
Ifthiserrorhappensataservicecenter,Lenovoauthorizedservicepersonnelwillcleanupthenon-volatile
systemUEFIvariablestorageusingtheabovesolution.
Errorswithoutmessages
•Problem:MyscreenkeepsblankingwhenIdonotwantitto.
Solution:IfyourcomputerispreinstalledwiththeWindows7operatingsystem,youcandisableany
systemtimers,suchastheLCDturn-offtimerortheblanktimerbydoingthefollowing:
1.StartPowerManager.
2.ClickthePowerplantab,andthenselectMaximumPerformancefromthepredefinedpowerplans.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthecomputer,nothingisdisplayedonthescreenandthecomputerdoesnot
beepwhilestartingup.
Note:Ifyouarenotsurewhetheryouheardanybeeps,turnoffthecomputerbypressingandholdingthe
powerbuttonforfoursecondsormore.Thenturnonthecomputerandlistenagain.
Solution:Makesurethat:
–Theacpoweradapterisconnectedtothecomputerandthepowercordispluggedintoaworking
electricaloutlet.
–Thecomputeristurnedon.(Pressthepowerbuttonagainforconfirmation.)
–Thebrightnesslevelofthescreenisappropriatelyset.
Ifapower-onpasswordisset,pressanykeytodisplaythepromptforthepower-onpasswordand
thentypethecorrectpasswordandpressEnter.
Iftheseitemsarecorrectlyset,andthescreenremainsblank,havethecomputerserviced.
•Problem:WhenIturnonthecomputer,onlyawhitepointerisdisplayedonablankscreen.
Solution:Ifyouhavemodifiedapartitiononyourinternalstoragedrivebyusingpartitionsoftware,
informationaboutthatpartition,orthemasterbootrecordmighthavebeendestroyed.
Dothefollowingtotrytosolvetheproblem:
1.Turnoffthecomputer,andthenturnitonagain.
2.Ifyoustillseeonlythepointeronthescreen,dothefollowing:
–Ifyouhaveusedpartitionsoftware,examinethepartitionontheinternalstoragedrivebyusingthe
software,andrecoverthepartitionifrequired.
–Usetherecoverysolutionstorestorethesystemtothefactorydefaultstate.
