•Problem:Anumberisdisplayedwhenyoutypealetter.
Solution:Thenumericlockfunctionison.Todisableit,pressFn+NumLock.
•Problem:Allorsomekeysontheexternalnumerickeypaddonotwork.
Solution:Makesurethattheexternalnumerickeypadiscorrectlyconnectedtothecomputer.
Problemswiththedisplayandmultimediadevices
Thistopicincludesthemostcommonproblemswithdisplaysandmultimediadevices,includingthe
computerdisplay,theexternalmonitor,andaudiodevices.
Computerscreenproblems
•Problem:Thescreenisblank.
Solution:Dothefollowing:
–PressF7tobringuptheimage.
–Ifyouareusingtheacpoweradapter,orusingthebatteryandthebatterygaugeshowsthatthebattery
isnotdepleted,pressF6tomakethescreenbrighter.
–Ifyourcomputerisinsleepmode,pressFntoresumefromthesleepmode.
–Iftheproblempersists,followthesolutionforthefollowingproblem.
•Problem:Thescreenisunreadableordistorted.
Solution:Makesurethat:
–Thedisplaydevicedriverisinstalledcorrectly.
–Thescreenresolutionandcolorqualityarecorrectlyset.
–Themonitortypeiscorrect.
Tocheckthesesettings,dothefollowing:
1.Connecttheexternalmonitortoyourcomputer,andthenconnectthemonitortoanelectricaloutlet.
2.Turnontheexternalmonitor.
3.Right-clickonthedesktop,andclickScreenresolution.
Note:Ifyourcomputercannotdetecttheexternalmonitor,clicktheDetectbutton.
4.SelecttheexternalmonitorandsetResolution.
5.ClickAdvancedSettings.
6.ClicktheMonitortab.Checkthemonitorinformationtomakesurethatthemonitortypeiscorrect.
Ifthemonitortypeiscorrect,clickOKtoclosethewindow;otherwiseproceedwiththefollowingsteps.
1.Ifmorethantwomonitortypesaredisplayed,selectGenericPnPMonitororGenericNon-PnP
Monitor.
2.ClickProperties.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconfirmation,typethepassword
orprovideconfirmation.
3.ClicktheDrivertab.
4.ClickUpdateDriver.
