•Problem:SounddoesnotcomefromtheBluetoothheadset/headphonebutcomesfromthelocal
speakereventhoughtheBluetoothheadset/headphoneisconnectedusingaHeadsetprofileorAVprofile.
Solution:Dothefollowing:
1.Exittheapplicationthatusesthesounddevice(forexample,WindowsMediaPlayer).
2.GotoControlPanelandclickHardwareandSound➙Sound➙Playback.
3.IfyouareusingaHeadsetprofile,selectBluetoothHands-freeAudioandclicktheSetDefault
button.IfyouareusinganAVprofile,selectStereoAudioandclicktheSetDefaultbutton.
4.ClickOKtoclosetheSoundwindow.
•Problem:PIMitemssentfromtheWindows7operatingsystemscannotbereceivedcorrectlyintothe
addressbookofanyotherBluetooth-enableddevice.
Solution:TheWindows7operatingsystemsendsPIMitemsinXMLformat,butmostBluetooth-enabled
deviceshandlePIMitemsinvCardformat.IfanotherBluetooth-enableddevicecanreceiveafilethrough
Bluetooth,aPIMitemsentfromtheWindows7mightbesavedasafilewiththeextension.contact.
Problemswiththekeyboardandotherpointingdevices
Thefollowingarethemostcommonproblemswithkeyboardsandotherpointingdevices.
ThinkPadpointingdeviceproblems
•Problem:Thepointerdriftswhenthecomputeristurnedonorafteritresumesnormaloperation.
Solution:ThepointermightdriftwhenyouarenotusingtheTrackPointpointingdeviceduringnormal
operation.ThisisanormalcharacteristicoftheTrackPointpointingdeviceandisnotadefect.Pointer
driftingmightoccurforseveralsecondsunderthefollowingconditions:
–Whenthecomputeristurnedon
–Whenthecomputerresumesnormaloperation
–WhentheTrackPointpointingdeviceiskeptpressedforalongtime
–Whenthetemperaturechanges
•Problem:TheTrackPointpointingdeviceorThinkPadtrackpaddoesnotwork.
Solution:MakesurethattheTrackPointpointingdeviceorThinkPadtrackpadisenabledintheThinkPad
pointingdevicesettingwindow.
Note:ToopentheThinkPadpointingdevicewindow,gotoControlPanelandclickHardwareand
Sound➙Mouse,andthenclicktheThinkPadtab.
Keyboardproblems
•Problem:Allorsomekeysonthekeyboarddonotwork.
Solution:Ifanexternalnumerickeypadisconnected:
1.Turnoffthecomputer.
2.Removetheexternalnumerickeypad.
3.Turnonthecomputerandtryusingthekeyboardagain.
Ifthekeyboardproblemisresolved,carefullyreconnecttheexternalnumerickeypadandtheexternal
keyboard.Makesurethatyouhaveseatedtheconnectorscorrectly.
Iftheproblempersists,makesurethatthecorrectdevicedriverisinstalledbydoingthefollowing:
1.OpenControlPanel.ChangetheviewofControlPanelfromCategorytoLargeiconsorSmallicons.
2.ClickKeyboard.
